Third piece dressing- it means adding a 3rd element, usually a jacket or layering item, on top of the shirt and pants you are wearing. It’s the easiest way to add interest to an otherwise basic outfit. And also, jackets are one of the best things to thrift. Which one is your favorite?

The outpouring of love and support since our last post has touched my soul in a way I didn’t know I needed. Thank you all again for being amazing friends and clients.

Unpopular (or popular) opinion: overproduction and overconsumption of clothing, regardless of its sustainability claims, contributes to resource depletion and waste. Period.

Incorporating innovative and sustainable materials, systems, and technologies are all good things, but the fundamental solution lies in reducing the overall production and consumption of fashion.

Ultimately, by reducing production and consumption, adjusting manufacturing quantities to align with *actual* demand 👀, avoiding unnecessary waste in the production process, investing in waste management and recycling infrastructures, and promoting circular systems, we can work towards a more sustainable and responsible fashion industry that solves many of fashion's most pressing problems. by @thefixxcollective

My daughter is starting second grade and this is the first year she has asked for a new outfit for the first day of school. Naturally, I suggested some secondhand options and she was stoked. @thredup was our first stop. Filtered out items in her size and found at least 15 things she wanted in about 15 minutes. We talked through her choices and selected the final items together, leaving a wishlist for later when it gets colder. She loved scrolling and doing her own shopping and I loved supporting her in her own #secondhandfirst and #nonewclothes journey. The only downside is that shipping does take a bit with #thredup so make sure you plan ahead! Luckily (or unluckily for me) our school doesn’t start until September! 😆 What are your favorite secondhand shops for kids?

Is that true?!
Do you buy 68 items a year? Be honest. That’s 5 or 6 things a month. Think about every category of clothing- shoes, socks, undergarments, activewear, swimwear, a few new things for your birthday, a few more for a vacation, a few things as memories from that vacation, sale items, seasonal items… Is it sounding possible yet?
And could you possibly reduce that number of new items to a measly FIVE? 🤔
But also, 80% of our purchases are rarely or never worn? 😭
