THIS WOMAN IS PUERTORICAN

Born in Puerto Rico, both parents are also born in Puerto Rico so as her grandparents. Her great-great grandfather immigrated from Arbois in France to bring the coffee bean from Jamaica and founded the agricultural venture we know as @haciendalealtad_ in the mountains of Lares, Puerto Rico.
We come in every shade and cultural background because our colonial history. She is my Mom @normaisegarra and spent decades studying and researching our ancestry to give our family the history of where we come from and how we became so lucky to be born Puertorican. #puertorico #lares #mom #ancestors #history taken in Santa Monica, California by @theflag787

AQUI MATARON GENTE POR SACAR...

LA BANDERA

Posted @withregram • @natalisruby 🇵🇷DROP
YA FLAGS

For those asking… Bad Bunny explains in La Mudanza “Aquí mataron gente por sacar la bandera….” Our ancestors were killed for showing pride and love their culture, so collectively we’ve all decided in all eternities and timelines we will WAVE OUR FLAG in their honor and for the LOVE of our culture!!! PUNTO Y YA! Look up El Grito de Lares before that story is erased too!!!

HERMANA

Posted @withregram • @prstrongwepa

Years ago, Rosie Perez spoke an undeniable truth on The David Letterman Show, calling out Puerto Rico’s colonial status.

Decades later, our people are still fighting the same battle. The injustice, the neglect, the second-class treatment—it hasn’t changed. But we won’t stay silent.

It’s time to turn awareness into action. Puertoricans deserve more than empty promises—we deserve justice, dignity, and true self-determination.

La lucha sigue, y nuestra voz es más fuerte que nunca. ¡Pa’lante, Boricuas!

THE SOUND OF PUERTO RICO

Posted @withregram • @jazzgbh

Why does the cuatro have 10 strings instead of 4? @fabiolamendezmusic introduced her instrument and played a fantastic set at the @wgbh studio at @bplboston! Looking forward bringing her to Santa Monica.
