Dean Addams talked to Divina De Campo about creating Karnak, drag’s long history on British stages, and the solo show she’s flying to Vienna to rehearse next.

Ride the Cyclone broke Southwark Playhouse’s record for the most tickets sold in a single 24-hour period when it had its UK premiere in 2025. It returned this summer for a ten-week run with Divina De Campo as The Amazing Karnak.

Directed and choreographed by Lizzi Gee.

Starring Divina De Campo, Josh Butler, Grace Galloway, Robyn Gilbertson, Bartek Kraszewski, Jack Maverick and Kayna Montecillo, with Rebecca D’Lacey and Nathaniel Purnell as swings.

The cast, creative team and Mickey-Jo Theatre @mickeyjotheatre talked about the show’s cult following, what it means to finally bring it to UK audiences, and why a musical about six dead teenagers keeps making people cry and laugh at the same time.

Bold Mellon Collective are back at the Queen’s House this Saturday with Queer Migrations 2026, a new ensemble performance built in direct response to Crossings, the museum’s new display on migration.

It’s on Saturday 18 July at the Queen’s House, Royal Museums Greenwich, with performances at 12:30pm and 2pm, the 2pm slot BSL interpreted.

Entry is free, and there’s a post show Q&A with the performers plus an open call running for the Queer Migrations Art Book.

Led by @em_talgat, Flicker talked to returning Queer Migrations 2025 artists @oops_chen_x and @vanchoked, alongside @heavadnyy, who first connected with the project through the Queer Frequencies workshop, about Crossings, working as an ensemble for the first time, and what comes next.

Eleanor Tindall’s Tender is back at Bush Theatre, now upscaled to the main house with Francesca Amewudah-Rivers and Nadi Kemp-Sayfi as two women pulled together by chance and pulled apart by everything they’re running from.

I left this one hopeful instead of wrecked, carried by two performances so tender and alive they’re worth falling for twice. Directed by Emily Aboud, with a set from Alys Whitehead that seems to breathe on its own.

Diane Paulus has taken The Phantom of the Opera off the stage and put it inside a six floor building on 57th Street, moving audiences from a rooftop down into the Phantom’s own lair.

This version tells the story from his side, not Christine’s, with a new carnival backstory sequence built in along the way.

Our review finds a Phantom, played by Austin Colby, who has nowhere to hide up close, and a production that trades the distance of a traditional stage for something far more intimate, even if the extra backstory doesn’t always earn its place.

Greenwich Theatre Productions closes out summer with a gender-swapped, queer-leaning take on Shakespeare’s best-known tragedy, directed by James Haddrell. Blossom Timothy plays Romeo as a woman, with Ava Honey as Juliet in her professional debut, and Charlotte Harwood and Nikita Johal doubling up as Friar Lawrence and Mercutio respectively.

A young cast matches the heat of a real London summer with folk music, sharp doubling and staging repurposed from a drama school production of Spring Awakening.

Raphael Phillips’s Monkeyface is running now at Riverside Studios through 21 July.

Set entirely inside a university bedroom, it follows a young Black gay student through Freshers Week, Soho nightlife and the search for somewhere to belong.

It’s a production built on restraint: one small space that shifts from possibility to isolation through lighting, sound and a performance that holds the whole night together. Directed by Mojola Akinyemi.

This weekend, Flicker Magazine marched at our first Pride under the flag of One Fluid Night. It was a day of colour, connection, and community, and we were joined by our partners and friends from @london_fashionday , led by @konstantin_keka

As well big thank you to everyone who joined our open call and walked with us. If you felt connected, if you felt touched by love out there, we see you and we carry that with us.

Submissions are officially open for One Fluid Night Film Festival in Paris 2026, taking place 23 and 24 October at Le Brady & Christine Cinema Club. The programme will spotlight international short films and the OFN Awards, in the city of Love & Cinema.

Frameline turns 50 this June and San Francisco is throwing the best party in queer cinema. Over 140 films, world premieres, Cannes titles and one very anticipated slasher film with Gillian Anderson.

Jane Schoenbrun’s Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma closes the festival with the Queer Palm and 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Gregg Araki is back with I Want Your Sex. Hayley Kiyoko’s Girls Like Girls gets its premiere the night before it opens everywhere. Alice Maio Mackay brings a world premiere produced by Schoenbrun. And Australian queer horror Leviticus has been building word of mouth since Sundance.
