tortoise shell nail art with regular nail polish 💅🏻🐢🤎

a lot of people asked for this tutorial and it’s finally live! yay! everyone please clap 😭🙌🏻

ok, so here’s a step by step:

01. one coat of an orange-yellow jelly

02. make big spots around with a red-orange jelly

03. make more spots with a brown jelly overlapping previous ones

04. another coat of the orange-yellow jelly

05. make more precise spots with a black creme nail polish, again, overlapping a little over the previous ones and adding random ones to fill in some spots

06. use polish thinner (not remover!) to smooth out the edges of the black spots

07. go back with the brown jelly around the black spots to blend in a bit more and darken the background as you wish

08. wait to dry a bit and apply a smoother top coat + regular quick dry top coat

and voila! 🧑🏻‍🍳🤌🏻💋

products used:
@crackedpolish i yam what i yam, chinotto
@cirquecolors rust jelly
@essie now or never
@kbshimmer nail polish thinner
@glistenandglow1 glitter smoother top coat
@mooncat speed demon quick dry top coat

hope this helps everyone that had asked for it! 🤎

tortoise shell nails for my birthday 🐢🤎

this is one of my favorite nail arts ever?! 😍 i might be biased because i had *so much fun* experimenting and trying different ways to make these. i can’t believe i was able to pull this off! and i ended up with so many wonderful results, but i had to pick one to do all 10 fingers with (otherwise i’d probably go a little crazy) and i love love loooove how they turned out!!! 🤎 the perfect nails to celebrate the day i arrived on earth lol

and yeah, i turned 33 yesterday. it’s weird because i kinda thought i was already 33?! lol i’ve been even telling people that 😅 nonetheless, another year around the sun and i don’t have a pep talk to give myself. i’m just glad i survived another year with all the struggles i manage to keep it to myself. cheers to another year on this planet! ✨

🩷🦋🧡

vanessa (my name) means butterfly.
i identify more like a moth myself, but i appreciate butterflies a lot. beautiful colorful multi legged flying bugs. so cute.

anyways this design came out of a forced creating session a few months ago, when my creativity was lacking. i ended up really loving them 🦋 i sort of planned on wearing these to go to a butterfly garden near me but i ended up changing plans at the time and not going. i need to do another version of these to actually go there soon! tbd. 💁🏻‍♀️

also this was my very first @roguelacquer try and instantly in love. i’m now obsessed with their flakie formulas! 😍 and this is the *most perfect* butter yellow in existence - it’s so pretty & flattering! 💛

happy halloween!!! 🎃👻🕸️🦇🌙

i had so much fun creating nail art this season!!! i was going to say that “this is my last halloween mani” but i’ll probably continue to embrace halloween/spooky content all year round, not just in october. it just brings me so much joy! sometimes i forget i have free will and can do whatever i want (with my nails) 🤪

this is another mix of freehand and stamping nail art 🥰
🏁 patterns are stamped, dots are freehand. 🥚 the large oval shape in the middle is stamped, the details around are freehand. 🎃 the elements inside the frames are stamped and all the details (pumpkin face, bat details, cat face) are freehand.

this nail art is inspired by the viral mani by @thecolornook 🖤

floral spider webs 🕸️🕷️🌼🍃

had so much fun with this one! i wasn’t sure about it at first but it grew on me. using stamping + freehand has been really artistically freeing and i’m really enjoying using both methods to create some of my favorite nail arts 🖤 i can’t believe it took me so long to start trying and now i’ll never look back! lol

the spider webs are stamped, the florals are freehand.
also, i recorded a whole video on how i did these nails and it’s up on my #reels right now! 🥹🎥

pumpkin checkered nails 🏁🎃

what can i say?! i love checkered pattern... so i made a halloweeny one! 🥰 i’ve been thinking about this one for awhile. i first stamped this design it on a swatch stick earlier this year and i just ✨couldn’t wait✨ to actually do on my nails for halloween month!!! 👻 i had it on for a few days and felt all the sad feelings while removing it. definitely a simple but a favorite nail art!

+ added a few photos of this nail art with matte top coat under a ring light.

listen to me, we need more brown nail polish. with shimmer, with flakies, with glitter, as magnetics, in every hue. 🗣️ we need more brown nail polish!!! 🗣️
the swampy ones and the chocolaty ones, all of them have my whole heart and i want to see more finishes! 🤎

i know it’s not everyone’s favorite color but seriously, look how AMAZINGLY delicious this polish is!!! 😍 i want to eat it. i know the name suggests otherwise but still. it’s gorgeous and so rich!!! 🤤 @crackedpolish has made some of my favorite browns ever and i hope they keep doing it! 🤎

macabre ⚰️ but make it cute 🎀

i did this design in 2023! but at that time, something happened to my pointer finger (probably a break iirc) and i had to remove the polish + nail art… i ended up never redoing that one finger because work got chaotic. but i’ve always wanted to recreate it - and i finally did it! yay!

originally i had used mooncat’s TMTYL as the base, but if you saw my stories a few weeks ago - my bottle has faded drastically 😬 so i ended up going with a different polish that gave the same energy and OMG… it turned out SO MUCH better!!! 💖🥹 i’m completely enamored by this one. it’s spooky and pretty!

spooky blues 💙

@polishedfordays - memo to me

i don’t think i’ve ever seen a blue polish glow like this?! holy shit. it’s sooo dimensional and intense! so good! my husband picked this one for me to use when i was having a polish choosing fatigue and i thought i wasn’t going to love it but i really do!!! it’s amazing in every way and it photographs beautifully! 🧑🏻‍🍳🤌🏻💋 even my cindy (right) hand made an appearance with shorties! 🥰

oh i also included the *only good & in focus photo* i got from the stamping nail art i did on top of this polish before my pinky nail broke off. 🎶💀

vintage halloween 👻🐈‍⬛🎃

i keep seeing vintage halloween nails everywhere and i ✨hAd To HaVe ThEm✨ on my nails too!!! it was really intimidating to paint these freehand, i practice a few times on my silicone mat and oh boy, my hands were sweating 😂 i LOOOOVE how they turned out SO MUCH! i really didn’t want to remove these bbs. 🫶🏻
