⭐️ I learned this week that Peter Max has died, only weeks after losing Yayoi Kusama, and I find myself unexpectedly overcome.

There are artists we discover, and then there are artists who seem to have been waiting for us before we even knew what art was.

Peter Max was there at the beginning for me. ⭐️

My parents slept on Peter Max sheets. My mother collected his work and recreated his paintings in her own hand. Before I knew anything about Pop Art or psychedelia or movements or museums, I knew those impossible colors. Suns + stars + flowers + mountain sages and strange celestial worlds. I think, in some very real way, Peter Max taught me to fall in love with color.

I only recently began collecting his work, perhaps trying to find my way back to something very old and very happy in myself.

⭐️ And then there is Yayoi Kusama.

Her obsession with infinity has always felt deeply familiar to me—that sense of being almost overwhelmed by the marvelousness of existence, and the possibility of disappearing into something immeasurably larger than ourselves.

For many years my email address was ‘tomb of stars’ borrowed from a quote that I could never quite shake; Kusama’s longing: “let me rest inside a tomb of stars…” ⭐️

It feels strange to grieve people I never knew. But perhaps we do know artists in another way.

They leave imprints in our minds.

A color.
A shape.
A way of seeing.
Permission to remain astonished.

Peter Max and Yayoi Kusama gave me that permission very young.

And I am realizing now that so much of what I still love—the ecstatic color, the repetition, the cosmos, the ridiculous beauty of infinity—has been part of me for almost as long as I can remember.

Maybe that is one of the great gifts of art.

The artist eventually leaves, but the wonder does not. And here I am so close to NYC, a city intimately tied to their careers. Perhaps my art will finally start to enter a place of maturity now that my childhood idols are both dead. Ugh. I’m so sad.

Summer made a child of itself—
golden-headed, green-eyed, and solemn with wonder. . . Crowned by blonde halo, the color of goodness

Enjoy my new poem on the 3rd slide. 🛝 🛝 *🛝

#pegasus has always belonged to #poets

In the old myth, where his hoof struck the earth, the spring of the Muses burst forth—and those who drank from it were given poetry.

I like to think the objects we keep become a kind of private mythology: talismans gathered across years, carrying meanings we may not understand until much later. A winged horse. A little blue sphere. Gold worn smooth by living. Things that somehow say: remember what has always made you fly.

Perhaps poetry was never something I learned to write. Perhaps it was simply the spring I kept returning to—sometimes knowingly, sometimes not—trying to drink deeply enough to remember myself.

Pegasus at the table. The Muse nearby. The old waters still running.

#paris has always felt less like a place I visit and more like a place I remember—as though some part of me has always belonged to its particular language of #beauty.

Here, art spills beyond the museums and onto the boulevards: into architecture, conversation, a beautifully cut coat, the light falling across an old stone façade. Paris reminds the #artist in me that beauty need not justify itself.

Perhaps that is why I return.

To write. To wander. To capture. To become.

Assembling collage is probably my favorite form of art direction + self expression. Next to poetry. Some of these examples of my artwork are small, some are poster-size commissions. They’re just fun! Enjoy 🌈

I’ve had so much fun creating these custom LED neon pieces lately. There’s something incredible about watching an idea — a phrase, a mood, an inside joke, a love note, a mantra — turn into light. ✨

The best part has honestly been seeing how much joy they bring to friends, clients, restaurants, events, and homes. Every piece feels a little different: playful, romantic, cheeky, nostalgic, loud, tender. Tiny glowing worlds.

This has become a bit of my Warhol era — dreaming up concepts, colors, typography, and energy, then bringing them to life through neon.

If you have an idea for a custom sign, send it my way. I’d love to collaborate on something strange, beautiful, funny, elegant, or completely over the top. 💡
