Established in 1854, it was originally designed to accommodate London's deceased during a time of population growth and has a rich history, including military cemeteries and notable burials.

The Zebra Spider (Salticus scenicus) is a common jumping spider in the Northern Hemisphere, known for its vivid black-and-white stripes. Females are about 5-9 mm long and it hunts smaller arthropods by using its eyesight to stalk and pounce.

From The Archives

Elaine Davidson - Female Piercings World Record Holder.

London 2011

Elaine, who has 6,925 piercings weighing 3kg (7lb), got hitched in Edinburgh to Douglas Watson – who has none.

‘People see the piercings but I see the amazing personality underneath,’ said the groom, who is in his 60s.

Brazilian-born Elaine said: ‘People often just want to look at me or touch me – some even want to kiss me.’

The 46-year-old former nurse, from Edinburgh, never removes the rings and studs, even in bed, and insists there is no pain involved in piercing. She also sleeps on a bed of nails, walks on fire and lies on broken glass.
