Awhile ago, my production company was tasked with curating a press conference for a high-level Pan-African engagement and in no time, everything was set... well, almost everything...Parley full set up; check.Location; Prime.Distinguished guests; on RSVP.Media houses; on standby.AOB; on cue.All was set, except the host.I had a tonne of brilliant MCs to pick from but one name settled within for this particular project: Dami Busari.I've been privileged to build shows and events with several hosts however, I had never worked with her prior. I definitely could not afford a gamble but her name had settled within so strongly that I could not shake it off...so.......D-Day.Dami was good.Nah, Dami was excellent.Dami was elegant.Dami was early.She was so in tune that you couldn't tell that she wasn't sourced for from within the organising framework.She had dutifully researched the event, its central theme, and even on D-Day, you could see her taking notes and following through, making timely, informed comments while also generating intelligent, spontaneous questions. Asides the central speakers, she easily became the unforced epicenter of the room and you could tell everyone anticipated when she'd speak next. Like hot knife on butter, the pleasantness she brought to the table warmly filled the room. The client's overall feedback on excellence began with Dami's "brilliant" performance as host and how she definitely "over-deserved" her pay and further recommendation.Simply exceptional.We may have had our fair share of a few headachy service providers🙃.. but I'd rather we normalize giving public commendation to those. who. deliver....Take your flowers, @damibusari! 💐 P.S Her second course on event hosting will soon be open for persons looking to learn the event hosting ropes. And what did last Saturday teach us?That when done to a painfully meticulous degree of detailing, bread, rocks and iron sponges can exist in the same room as pristine art forms of couture, steadily turning heads around the globe.That you can honestly hope, with fingers crossed, for one award but your ruthless dedication to the craft in the past year already broke the hardwork speed limit... so...you go home with two.That you can have a brilliant run in global music and be a world class act in filmmaking within the same lifetime. That your work can be celebrated aboard with no fear of being lauded back at home because you put a universally undeniable amount of heart into it. That there are no permissions required. The only permission required is to finally acknowledge the light that you are and to allow yourself shine with the unrestrainable excellence of the sun. And that on days you do not claim big wins, that you can allow yourself feel seen... that you can appreciate your journey, how far you've come and how much you've grown. And that you keep on going and keep on growing.And speaking of, it's such a beauty to see how much we've grown. Barely a decade ago, there was the 'war' against the Hollywoodification of our stories, bordering on how we hold the exclusive capacity to tell our tales with African-coloured lenses for the global stage; how our stories must be authentically crafted to highlight the uniqueness of our struggles, our joys and everything inbetween; how we must protect and preserve history and heritage in order to guide posterity in true light.Now, look at us. The world is closely watching, listening, leaning in... unlearning and relearning our truth. Imagine if by being less than our authentic selves, we showed the world what it thought to be true...So, please allow you.Allow yourself try, fail, doubt, try, fall, rise...Allow yourself shine.And when the pages are flipped back, it would be only to rediscover in closer detail the painstaking depth you put into the excellence your life has shown. ✨✨✨I mentioned once that some days just never leave you. This was one of those.As Creative Director and Show Caller, running on little to no sleep from back-to-back ideation sessions to rehearsals to live show directing and going again is in fact a whirlwind 🌪️ but the dedication to excellence of some artistes and their team makes the whirlwind a waltz.From curating the theatrics of an opening Isale Eko market scene with the brilliant DNMT, to plotting stage movement for actual Eyo as an ode to his roots as Lagos Royalty to scripting a neat interlude featuring Layi and Enioluwa and directing the show and the many moving elements of lighting, sound, screen, live feed, art direction, choreo.. it was evident I had a personal "vendetta" to make this an awesome show. Plus this wasn't just the phenomenal showman AG, this was also Fade's big brother. Then there was the manager's astounding work rate, Liz making sure every detail was excellently executed. The details were delicately pieced together like exquisite jewellery and AG's music, his showmanship and his vulnerability (sharing his personal affirmations with the audience or something if I remember) came through to make it all a complete masterpiece.Bumping into one of my closest friends from primary made it even more special.So yes, if you're going to tonight's live concert with AG, you're in for one of those nights that never leave you.Big ups already on tonight, Team AG 👍🏻 Can't wait to see the awesomeness by @thefunmiadeyemi

🙏🏼Tended a few beautiful flowers this year (plant mom or how do they call it) but I lost most of my pictures so this one I temporarily kept during work will have to do. Omo... 'plant mom' work is not easy o. Flower vase, daily watering, DIY flower food, exposure to sunlight... Blessed...Blessed to wrap the year taking some timeout in God. Nothing much.. Just to dwell.. Just to dwell... After 2 and a half years of anticipating, we finally finally had the long awaited Worship getaway of kings casting crowns and priests offering sacrifices of praise unto God... and after 5 hours, we were yearning for even more of Him ✨We bless God for His presence and we celebrate endlessly the gifts of God to us in the persons of ministers Eniola Michael, Israel Makuo, Cherechi Caleb-Obi, Marvid, Deo and the graced pianists Sola Shosma, Michael Anjorin and Martin who took out time to be a blessing and to worship God with us. Production WrapLate '23 to late '24The greatest strength of the entrusted responsibility of leadership in the role of the producer or the director will always be a committed and excellent team and I can say I've been blessed with the most brilliant teams of videography, lighting, sound, screen, photog, art direction and stage mgmt technicians, many of whom I'm engaging for the first time. I've equally been blessed with awesome leads and brilliant performers alongside their management teams that have made the most intense work as fun and as memorable as possible. Technically, I'm not supposed to have 'favorites' but one of the 8 A-list concerts I directed have my hearttt, so much that the countless meetings, multi-night rehearsals and sound checks didn't feel like a thing. You might have a clue just looking at the pictures on the Showcalling list. Some day soon, I will take time to give well deserved flowers.
