New York Fashion Week SS26 ended two weeks ago, and it’s time for a deep reflection — to push the American fashion industry toward a new path where originality meets cultural and social progression.

Fashion Week has lost its edge, but the fix is as simple as ABC. From authenticity to zeal, the industry needs a reset rooted in research, originality, and real community.

Parsons’ MFA Fashion Design and Society (@parsons_mfafds) Generation 14 left the room buzzing — 15 graduates proving why research, culture, and critical thinking matter in fashion today. Their work reminds us: the future isn’t just about clothes, it’s about new ways of seeing.

When will the industry truly value skill, vision, and research over popularity?

Models, with commanding struts, animated garments that blurred the line between ready-to-wear and wearable art — echoing Cardi B’s mantra of drama and spectacle.

Graduates from institutions like Parsons, Central Saint Martins, and London College of Fashion rarely miss their mark. But what sets this generation apart is their devotion to research, critical inquiry, and cultural reflection — qualities that often outshine global creative directors selected more for popularity than depth.

Inspired by Romanian folklore, her @pipencolorena SS26 collection fuses folkloric weight with fantastical whimsy: a 900+ lemon peel gown, mushroom-shaped hats, and sugar-pastel defiance. A reminder that fashion is not just commerce, it’s resilience, sincerity, and imagination.

Who Decides War’s Read the Room SS26 is a meditation on resilience, collapse, and renewal. Ev Bravado (@evbravado) and Téla D’Amore (@teladamore_) staged garments that unraveled and reassembled as Leon Thomas’s vocals set the tone for transformation.

The collection shifted from grays and charred blacks to rust, oxidized tones, and soft blossoms, a palette of decay turning into growth. Distressed fabrics and collapsing drapes carried both fragility and strength. Refusing to be boxed into “streetwear,” Who Decides War expands into tailoring, suiting, and bold collaborations. How do you create newness in unfamiliar spaces where balance doesn’t exist?

Keith Herron’s (@yungrooftop) @advisry SS26 collection Four Moral Tales is a study in restraint, temptation, obsession, and detachment. Inspired by Éric Rohmer’s films, the pieces remind us that morality isn’t always straightforward, sometimes it’s found in silence, in touch, or in what goes unsaid.

From the altered Americana motifs to the rounded-edge check sweater that reimagines the polo silhouette, Herron proves that “less is more.” Each garment becomes both a question and an escape, asking us to confront our instincts while also imagining new worlds.

What would it mean to build a world where Black imagination isn’t boxed in, but recognized as the blueprint? Where Black communities are centered — not copied, but cherished?

The GANZY presents Unboxed Evolution: The Essence of Black Dandyism — more than an exhibition, it’s a cultural moment. On April 11 in a Harlem brownstone, we gather in the spirit of liberation, style, and storytelling.

At the heart is a comic, written and styled by The GANZY and illustrated by Matthew White (@1whitematthew), tracing Black dandyism from pre-colonial elegance to Harlem Renaissance brilliance to today’s street-sartorial icons.

As Black people continue to separate themselves from the traditions and imaginations that America has fashioned for their existence, new representations of Blackness are birthed — for us, by us — through authentic storytelling and knowledge sharing.
