but you don’t need to go to NYC to find art around you.

next time you’re out for a stroll look at your local buildings, signs, outfits, and shops, and take notice of anything that stands out to you.

what is it about the word “should” that is so deceptively dangerous? it’s just a word, after all, and its ultimately used to set an intention— not such a bad thing one thinks.

its deception isn’t in its intention, but in its hidden judgement. “should” implies that we really ought to be someplace or somewhere else, and its very different from saying “my goal is to be there”.

the latter doesn’t condemn the present the way “should” does, and it still recognizes what we want to happen.

its not inherently bad to have wants and desires. when these wants get framed as imaginary rules, duties, or comparison, however, thats when its time to rethink our vocab !

8 reasons why social media isn’t all bad… 🪴🚿

1. people are lonely introverts and social media helps bridge this gap

2. social media makes personal art / creative expression more accessible

3. people love to feel seen and validated, but on their own terms

4. we yearn to capture beautiful moments and share them with the world (when traditional forms of comms fail us)

5. people like getting dressed up and ‘playing the part’, because this is what it means to be human

6. sm can make ordinary moments feel extraordinary

7. it can give us a lens into our (potential) future by showing us people already excelling in the space

8. cute animals… enough said

See… it really isn’t all bad. Like most things though, it requires tinkering to figure out what model works best for your life. For me, social media has been an immense creative and connective outlet.
