Oh, this blessed life.

G has come SO far in allowing the kid humans to love and smother him. He definitely tolerates it, but he comes out more often and invites the pets and kisses… because he also knows they love to give him treats! It’s been so sweet watching their bond over time.

POV: you’ve been asking “are we there yet?” since setting paw in the car.

G is a rollercoaster of patience in the car. He’s generally well behaved, but every now and then protests about how long this trip (back home to visit family) actually is [see above photo for reference].

Really, though, he’s the best boy and we have zero complaints because he tolerates the kids screaming, the music blaring, and the overall time in the car. He’s also sits snotty as king co-pilot. What a life.

Gibson was just made for more.

There’s something so special about watching Gibson discover nature with us. Belfountain Conservation area was such a good space for both cats and kids! The freedom & the little moments of this day are something I will always remember. So grateful for a life where we get to slow down & get outside together.

Just your normal coffee run, except we brought the kid and the cat.

Even [on days like today] with rain in the forecast, we still like to get out when the weather serving warmth as well. Life with kids can be busy and loud, so when a calm little moment happens, we’ve learned to slow down and really enjoy it.

Where are my adventure cats or dogs with human siblings at? Come with us to @highgroundcafebelfountain! What a stunning area. Coming from the city, it was so nice to have a quiet [as quiet as you can with littles] stop for coffee and treats!

I can’t even recall the drinks we ordered (one was a mocha), but it was great! We also ordered ice cream for the littles — they had no complaints.

Our one hope is that they’ll have high chairs for next visit. This place is definitely super pet friendly (water offered, treats for dogs, etc.) but it would be nice to have the kids be accommodated. However, it does seem like their vibe is more for bikers going by so it’s possible that they don’t often have kids passing by.

Either way, we were happy and we will definitely be back! This area is soooooo calm. We need that in our lives!

Turns out, the best part of going anywhere is who comes along with you.

Sometimes you just need to look at the calendar and say, “Yup, let’s go!” September is also in general quieter, our warm days are numbered, and fall is G’s favourite time of year. So yesterday, we packed up and took a little trip.

G has mastered the art of disappearing in plain sight. Often, we’d like to just bring G grocery shopping with us. He’d likely not even be spotted, right? 😹 But we always respect the no pet pawlicy! Stay tuned for school pickups with G this coming week, though 😻

Small rant incoming.

While walking my cat tonight, I received a comment I’ve actually never ever received in the entirety of walking Gibson.

“I’ve always wondered, do you people walking your cats have it all together?” to which I responded, “what are you getting at with that comment?” to which he replied, “ya know, when you see people at the gas station in their pyjamas.. you sort of wonder if they have it together; ya know, I’ve never seen someone actually walking their cats”.

Ohhhhh, person I’ve never met who’s walking their dog.. I have so many responses and directions I could provide or take this conversation to. But I chose to educate. I chose to inform him that while you see many cats outdoor, off leash, and doing whatever they want.. that often you also see missing cat posters because they’ve likely gotten lost and don’t find their way home, hit by a car, killed by a predator, been poisoned by a plant or some other substance, obtained an infectious disease (ie. FIV), or it got killed by some other trauma (falls, bites, etc.). I mean, I walk my cat for the same reasons you walk your dog, really.

I could’ve said, “I now wonder, do people who make unsolicited comments about strangers’ cats have it together?”, or “funny, I was wondering the same thing about people who feel the need to announce their observations”. Perhaps I could’ve said “imagine seeing something harmless you’ve never seen before and deciding the problem must be the person doing it”.. I also could’ve said, “unleash YOUR dog and hope it comes back. No? This is the same reason why I don’t do that”. But I didn’t because I didn’t want to step down to his level 😬

ANYWAYS, my cat gets to have sweet, safe moments like these ones with our family because he IS family. He truly does get to experience the best of both worlds because he wants to and enjoys doing so. And I think this thought alone is the epitome of having it together, don’t you?
