⁜ The Horned Reveller ⁜

The horned folk have descended from the misty hills and dark forests to raid the village wine stores. The villagers dare not leave their homes until the revellers have had their fill and the merrymaking has ceased…

⁜

A bestial creature inspired by satyrs and fawns, the disciples of Dionysus or Bacchus. With a good helping of inspiration from my Mordheim beastmen too!

⁜

I went with some Autumnal colours for the leaves, which do you prefer? Ashy grey or burnt orange? 🍁

⁜ The Knight of the Wild Hunt ⁜

The Wild Hunt appears throughout European folklore, found in Germanic, Celtic, and Slavic traditions. It describes a supernatural procession or ghostly hunt led by a mythological figure, accompanied by spirits, souls of the dead, ghostly hounds and other supernatural beings.

In many traditions, witnessing the Wild Hunt was considered an omen of disaster, war, plague, or death.

I’ll be carving this and making gilded relief prints soon!

⁜ A Fruitful Harvest ⁜

The priest of the harvest surveying an overly abundant crop, unaware of the malevolent presence lurking amongst the vines…

⁜

An illustration I’ve designed for @bloodofgodszine their publication is packed full of amazing art, really happy to be part of it!

⁜

I’m going to be carving this into a relief print too! It’s been added to the pile, yet to be carved.

Swipe for colour, b&w and sanguine red, the colour I always sketch in first!

⁜ The Knight of the Resplendent Dawn ⁜

A radiant champion clad in armor that once gleamed in the first light of morning, now streaked with verdigris and rust from an eternal crusade. At daybreak he rides forth from the gilded tower. A solitary figure against the horizon, sworn to illuminate darkness, to stand unbroken against the long night. His presence is heralded not by trumpets but by the hush before sunrise, when the world holds its breath as the light slowly returns to the land.

Illustrations for my next relief print! Swipe for versions with and without weathering and black and white. Which is your favourite? 🌞

⁜ The Order of the Bound Deep ⁜

The knights of the bound deep are ascetic, ritualistic and secretive. They believe that the world contains a slumbering ocean, hidden at its core. Their sacred duty is to keep it and the aquatic inhabitants: bound, contained and forgotten.

⁜

A new illustration for patches and stickers. I’ll carve a block for some handprinted versions too. I muted and aged the colours a little this time.

⁜ The Briar-Bound Prince ⁜

This illustration is a design for a gilded relief print that I made for @oakandembergallery for their ‘Beneath’ exhibition. I had in mind the Prince from Rapunzel - the German fairy tale - who tumbled from the tower wall into the thorns and was blinded.

⁜

What if the Prince hadn’t made it out of the briars and had perished there instead, nothing left besides his mortal remains and armour.
Perhaps the briars became imbued by his spirit, creeping ever upwards towards the distant window of a now long empty room in the tower.

⁜ The Gluttonous Hog Heater ⁜

The boars are in the tower orchard again…

Here’s a heraldic design that I’ve created for some patches, inspired by the boars in my local forest.

⁜

Which colour boar is your favourite? 🐗

There will be embroidered patches and some hand made lino printed ones!

Sorry I’ve been a little quiet here, I’ve had my plate full with commissions and markets!

So beyond excited that we have the wonderful @thegildedtower joining us!! We were already huge fans, but seeing these pieces in person has made us fall deeper in love with the amazing work they create.

We'll be bringing these and more down with us to @rdrfestival and we honestly can't wait to get them out on display so everyone gets the chance to see the beauty and individuality of each print.

⁜ The Guise of the Green Knight ⁜

Appearing in King Arthur’s court brandishing an axe and a bough of holly, the otherworldly Green Knight proposes a “beheading game”: any knight may strike him if he can return the blow in a year and a day. Sir Gawain accepts and swiftly beheads him, the Green Knight calmly reaches down and picks up his head. As he departs he reminds Gawain of their pact. A year later, Gawain journeys to the Green Chapel to face The Green Knight once more.

⁜

Here’s my own original design for the Green Knight from Arthurian legend. I thought it was time for another knight, and who better to step up to the challenge? Which do you prefer? Green and mustard, pure green or black and white?

⁜

Sorry it has been a bit quiet around here if late, I’ve had a lot on, including securing a studio with a proper press (my own personal grail quest!). I should have a lot of new stock landing in the very near future!

(Digital illustrations for a multiple block print).
