Our For the Benefit of Both fundraiser wasn’t just a celebration, it was an invitation. Through hands-on workshops, we offered our community space to slow down, get curious, and build deeper relationships with nature.

At The Nature Place, we prioritize experiences like this that use our senses to strengthen our connection. When we feel something, we continue to care for it.

As you move through the rest of your summer, be encouraged to:

🐌Slow down – Let nature offer you rest, or surprise you with something new.
🐝Look around – Notice the species we share this region with; they’re creating homes for pollinators and people alike.
🤝Collaborate – Together, we grow the kind of community we want to live in.

A tremendous thank you to the artists and sponsors who helped bring these workshops to life. Please continue to support their work:

What a fun project and great learning experience! Here are some process shots from the tractor pull mural I installed a few weeks ago. Two sides of a 20ft trailer. The client wanted it to look like he had left the trailer by the train yard and it had been graffitied. Painted with @rustoleum 2x. Send your people my way if they have a hobby trailer they want painted!

Y’all, if you didn’t know, I’m just a redneck from central Wisconsin, and this mural really took me back to my roots! Growing up in a small town that often hosted the WI Nationals Tractor Pull, Labor Day weekend was a whole vibe. Our population would jump from 250 to several thousand. We’d have everything from the county fair to tractor pulls, demo derbies, beer, and good times all around!

So, when a hobby tractor puller from Iowa reached out to me about painting the trailer he hauls his tractor in, I was both excited and a bit unsure. He wanted it to look like it had been left by the railroad and tagged with graffiti. I’ve worked with spray paint before, but rarely in a full-on graffiti style, and definitely not on something this big. I painted BOTH sides of a trailer. Thats two large murals.

It was a fun challenge and something totally outside my usual work, so I took it as a chance to grow and try something new! I would love to do more work like this so let me know if your uncle leaves his hobby trailer down by the tracks! ;)

Attention readers!!
Are you or a loved one a fan of fantasy? Do you enjoy sexy magic wielders, otherworldly creatures, and post-post-apocalyptic storytelling? You should preorder the digital e-book “The Song of Sunrise” now!!! Get a copy for you and your partner, your best friend, even your mom! It would be a huge blessing to @mjdeloybooks as a new author and myself as an artist. If you can’t purchase a copy for any reason consider sharing this post with friends who may need to fill in their spring reading list!

Thank you @mjdeloybooks for trusting me with this cover! It was such a pleasure to design!

@mjdeloybooks was kind enough to trust me with the cover design for her first novel and I can’t be more proud of how it turned out! The Roc is an enormous legendary bird of prey that was popular in Middle Eastern mythology. This big baddie was said to be large enough to carry away an elephant!

I wanted the illustration to almost feel like it was on fire and flying towards the viewer. I went through so many iterations but in the end I was able to use the fluid Art Nouveau linework to create the illusion of feathers and flames. I think it worked so well! What do you think?

Excited to share some behind the scenes sketches of the “The Song of Sunrise” book cover, written by the incredibly talented @mjdeloybooks ! This was such a joy to create. We explored so many design directions but once we landed on this illustration style I knew I was going to love creating this cover! The design is heavily inspired by the decorative frames of the Art Nouveau period which uses crisp, gently curving linework and soft rounded shapes that feel casually effortless, opulent, and slightly sensual all at the same time!
