Returning to @cphfw for the SS27 season, @iamisigo by @bubuogisi unveils a series of standout looks, crafted from natural materials sourced across the African continent; such as woven bark cloth. The collection cerebrally draws from Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o’s 2006 book Wizard Of The Crow and explores the politics of ownership, oppression, colonialism and its influence on land, its people, and the environment. @bubuogisi cleverly uses these textiles to interrogate the system, resulting in a layered collection that transcends the boundaries of style.

“I want to show that African craftsmanship is the future [of] the western industrial system in terms of sustainability and social issues,” @imane_ayissi told me back in 2021 just months after his @hautecoutureweek debut.
