To start, we want to thank everyone for their OVERWHELMING support and interest in our little event! 🖤 Over the past weeks, we have received a multitude of kind messages, inquiries, and song requests.

As a new goth event with fresh management, we kindly ask you to read the following message to ensure everyone's expectations are aligned, so you can enter The Gloom Room ready to dance the night away 👯‍♂️

Firstly, we want to foster a safe, tolerant and welcoming space. There will be NO gatekeeping, hatred, or harassment. Please do not hesitate to approach the DJs or staff with concerns during the event. Those caught violating these guidelines will be asked to leave.

Secondly, we ask that you be respectful of our venue space and those occupying it. While we will have an area dedicated to The Gloom Room, we still share the space with the general public and patrons of the sports bar. Keep consent in mind as you traverse through the dance floor to make sure everyone stays comfortable.

Lastly, we would like to reiterate that our goal is to provide you with a fun and positive place to share your love for goth music. As we will have many new DJs and showrunners collaborating with us on this event, we ask that everyone be supportive and refrain from negative commentary.

We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to our first night of gloom! 🦇 Please DM us with any additional questions or feedback. Thank you again for all the love and support, and we can't wait to get gloomy with yinz! 🖤 taken in Squirrel Hill Sports Bar by @thegloomroompgh

Some inspiration for your wardrobe choices next Saturday evening...

From the painted covers of vampire and dark fantasy novels to the vampire movie boom of the 60s and 70s, there is so much to draw inspiration from in the cinematic and literary world of the vampire. These costumes are influenced by many different eras of elegance - Medieval, Middle Ages, Renaissance, Regency, Rococo, Victorian... and often feature 60s and 70s style makeup, giving it that signature Hammer look.

Many of these vampire icons are queer, with heavy lesbian representation from films like the Vampire Lovers (pic #5), Shiver of the Vampire, and Lust for a Vampire. We love to see it.

And we can't wait to see your looks for this event. Thrift something crazy. Bust out those gowns you never have the opportunity to wear. Complete your look with fangs, which will be available at the event as well, with limited supply.
