“you can always count on my love” is my goodbye gift to a city that’s been very inspiring and kind to me as an artist. turned some really cool beauties into cyanotypes and wheatpasted them in fishtown, west and germantown. each beauty did an interview about their lives and hopes for the future of philly, which is linked to the QR code if you find em out in the streets. all prints and interviews are also in my bio. love u more than you’ll ever know. by @thegoodhoodwitch

Last but not least, the final 2026 Wind Challenge III featured artist is Qiaira Riley (@thegoodhoodwitch) 🦋

🗝️ Riley is an interdisciplinary artist, educator, and cultural worker, raised on Chicago’s south-side and based in Philadelphia. She holds a dual BA in Black Studies and Studio Art from Lake Forest College, as well as a MFA in Socially Engaged StudioArt from Moore College of Art & Design.

🗝️ She is a co-founder and curator of 2.0, a collective collaborating with artists and organizations to curate free, experimental offerings for Black women and femmes. Riley's studio practice utilizes painting, ceramics, cyanotype, and various other visual practices to explore themes of Black American aesthetic memory and material culture.

🗝️ Her studio work has been shown across the United States and has won awards from the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Fleisher Art Memorial, the Barnes Foundation, Mural Arts, Monument Lab, the Friends of the Tanner House and the Leeway Foundation. She also hosts "Something You Can Feel," a contemporary Black art history podcast, that can be found on Apple and Spotify.

See Riley's works in person at the @fleisherart gallery now through June 26th, and be sure to join us for the reception/artist exchange on June 5 from 6 to 8 pm ~

just in case mfs forgot imma painter i made this series of works exploring black feminine yearning inspired by 70s and 80s r&b power ballads for my @dinawindartfoundation show opening @fleisherart this month. there will also be some cyanotype and ceramics in the mix. this feels very sentimental and important as this will likely be my last time getting to show a body of work like this in Philly. will be in conversation with @chelseylusterart and @dshonmccarthy on june 5th to chat about this series. please come and hug me real tight! taken in Fleisher Art Memorial by @thegoodhoodwitch

Currently studying for the major exam for my doctorate in art history which means I am reading about 130 books/articles exploring modern and contemporary Black American visual and material culture with subthemes exploring critical race theory, gender, the built environment, photography, portraiture and pan-africanism. I built this baby from scratch without having many folks exploring similar topics in my field. If for some reason you ever need a similar reading list here ya go. Heard they closed Pride Cleaners on 79th and I feel strangely sad? I never used the actual cleaners but I always saw the building of some visual signifier of home.Seeing the visual landscape of my hometown change gets a bit harder each time but i keep all my favorite places in my art. taken in Southside, Chicago by @thegoodhoodwitch

I have a secret that I will tell if you catch me at one of my lil art events this weekend 🫢

On Friday, I’ll be showing new cyanotype work @artsleaguephl for an exhibition of works inspired by the 1975 film Mahogany. I’ll be playing my fav 70s jam from 4-7pm at the opening. Also honored to be @thecoloredgirlsmuseum on Sunday for a live recording of @somethingyoucanfeelpod exploring the reuse of some Black American domestic interiors throughout history. The podcast recording is from noon til 1pm with an artist talk to follow with myself, @dejeonge, and @ceramics.byangelique. Hope to catch y’all! by @thegoodhoodwitch
