I did it!

I made my very 1st quilt called Raw Material

Hamilton is home. It is where I have built my life, where I learned to sew, and where I learned that there can be beauty in the rough edges.

Raw Material was created as an experiment for this year’s Scraps theme at @patchquiltshow . Every piece is a scrap, fabric that might otherwise have ended up in a landfill. I brought together mismatched colours, textures, patterns, and imperfect edges to create a sunset over the Hamilton skyline.

The smokestacks are an important part of the story. They represent the industry that has shaped Hamilton and its identity, while also connecting to the idea behind the name Raw Material. Steel is created by transforming raw materials into something strong and useful. In this quilt, I am doing something similar, transforming leftover pieces of fabric into something new.

The sunset softens the familiar industrial landscape, just as the scraps become something more than what they were on their own.

Raw Material reflects a beginning: learning, experimenting, making mistakes, and finding beauty in the process. It is a celebration of transformation, of scraps becoming something whole, of a rough edged city becoming home, and of the raw materials that make up both the places we live and the things we create.

If you have nothing going on next weekend, I would love for you all to come out and see it. It is filled with flaws but was such an interesting project to experiment with and I feel really proud of myself.

I can’t wait to see everyone else’s!

When my daughter saw the super tacky Christmas vest I made for myself, she told me she wanted one.

So I went ahead and made her one.

I traced a vest she already owned and made this for her. As you can see she is a fan and is so excited to wear it for her school holiday concert where she sings THIS song.

Now should I make one for my husband and son? 🤔

Today is the day this super fun pattern is available. Introducing the Brisa Jumpsuit by @itzomapatternco ! There are 3 different views for this pattern: a jumper with shorts or pants and a dress! Here you see the shorts jumpsuit version

I made this for the beach and it is the best bathing suit coverup! I absolutely love it!

The day is almost done. But my babe turned 2 today 😭 Of course my little prince needed a new crown for his special day. I whipped this up literally the hour before his party started lol.

He has been wearing it for the last 3 days and wanted to wear it to bed tonight, I think it’s safe to say, he was impressed 😂

He really felt so special the last few days! Thanks for all who came to celebrate ❤️ by @thegoodthimble

Introducing The #teaberrybloomers by the Canadian pattern designer @mirandarileydesigns

These are the absolutely perfect everyday pants. They are so comfortable and very fun to make. I can’t wait to make more! I love that they are size inclusive!

I made them with a thrifted bedsheet I had in my stash for some time. I see myself wearing these a lot!

I’ve been testing The Rowan Tank by @meandkiddo.patterns and the pattern is finally being released today 🙌🏼

I LOVE this everyday tank! Both of these are view B. I added visible binding on the second tank arm holes but technically it’s supposed to be invisible like the first one.

This was such a clear and easy pattern to follow! Highly recommend!
