Thank you @tandemcollectiveuk for my copy of Death by the sea. A cosy first part to the Misfit detectives series that is great for the beginning of cosy season 🍂🔎🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿After seeing and advert for a house sit/job for a woman named Moira in Scotland, Jamie decides to go and see his roots. He was born in Scotland but doesn't know much about that time and he's not having the best of times right now so it was perfect timing. You navigate his relationship as he's left what sounds like a controlling girlfriend back home but then someone dies, his girlfriend goes quiet and Jamie needs to know what happened and gets more invested than he should do. He's also making friends along the way. The characters he meets are strange, like they have loads more to say and do so to get to the bottom of what is going on I'll be pre ordering book 2 and I'll follow the series. I have my theories but let's finish the series and see if I'm right.

Ok, what is this obsession about. For as long as I can remember I've loved seeing the fungi return and for years and years I've filled my phone with them. This is this weeks photos and I've even seen some I've never seen before. I mean, what the help is the spiky one.

F☆☆k it, it's christmas by Holly Atwood

Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read this pre publication. This is a good one !

If you're always behind, have 45,653 jobs on your list, trying to organise everything and everyone , firslty well done, secondly your probably a woman (sorry men) and thirdly you need to read this book. Funny, sweary, Christmas and family mess that was either relatable or made me sympathise.  Messy parenting and trying to do all the things they think they NEED to do at Christmas with chaos along the way. Really great read but now I want the fairy lights.
OUT 8th OCT.

Today is National Fitness Day… and it also marks 6 MONTHS since I finally decided that enough was enough. 🎉💪
Six months ago, I was overweight, unhappy with myself and, quite frankly, bloody fed up of listening to myself complain about it! 😂
I kept telling myself, “But I do exercise… I run!” And yes, I did run. But that was pretty much where my relationship with exercise ended. 😂
So I decided to actually do something about it.
And WOW. What a six months it’s been.
I’ve worked bloody hard. I’ve lost over 2.5 stone, but I know this journey has never really been about the number on the scales. The biggest changes have happened in my head.
I feel different. I AM different.
Exercise is easier. I actually WANT to do it now (who even am I?! 😂). I do a variety of things that I genuinely enjoy, and it doesn’t feel like a punishment or a chore anymore.
My breathing is better. I’ve gone down 2 dress sizes and 2 bra cup sizes… although the latter is an absolute bloody BOOOOOOO. 😂😭
But more importantly, I’m happier. So much happier.
And yes, I still have health problems. Yesterday was a pretty brutal reminder of that. I spent about 90% of the day crying — actually, no… SOBBING — because I was in so much pain during a flare. And yes I have a thyroid condition that makes everything harder.
But the difference now is that I don't feel defeated by it.
For far too long, I told myself “I can’t.”
Turns out… I bloody can. And I am. ❤️
For six months, I’ve logged my food every single day. I haven’t gone off the rails. I haven’t deprived myself. I’ve completely reframed my relationship with food.
In fact, I’ve had a packet of biscuits sitting on my desk since JULY and I haven’t even opened them.
THE WOMAN I HAVE BECOME. 😂🍪
Six months ago, I wanted to change my body.
What I’ve actually changed is my mindset, my habits, my relationship with food, my relationship with exercise and, most importantly, my relationship with myself.
I’m bloody proud of me.
Six months down.
And I’m nowhere near done. ❤️
Happy National Fitness Day! 🥳💪
Now… where’s my tiny sports bra? Apparently I need a new one. 😂

Look for everything around you. Without putting this effort in to my life, I'd be crazy. I don't think the people in these photos realise what they do to my life. Living with chronic pain and watching everyone around you slowly abandon you was really difficult at first. All because you say no to invites due to pains and anxiety, then watching the invites stop, then the messages stop until you realise it's all gone. I've served my purpose with them and they got what they needed at the time and then left. It has taken some work but I've learnt I'm ok with that. I am the happiest, most confident and most content I think I have ever been right now. All due to me finding what I already had inside me.

I felt the description really pulled me in to want to read this book. Livia's style of writing is great and I went to all these places in Italy and really felt I was there. The settings were great and the story had lots of potential but I kept waiting for that grab. Unfortunately for me, there was no grab. It was an ok read but there was nothing that grabbed me and it felt like it didn't really go anywhere. Because of this is was a book I'd put done and remember 4 days later that I was reading it and read a bit more. Thank you @netgalley for allowing me to read this pre publication.

BLURB
Summer, 1992. Peter, a promising young artist, vanishes off the coast of Tuscany. Ten days later, his body washes ashore, bloated and unrecognisable. For one sweltering summer, his death grips the public imagination, before fading into the haze of nineties lore.

Thirty years on, Peter’s widow, Marie, has become infamous in her own right. A cult but reclusive horror writer, her novels are celebrated for their dark brilliance – but no one knows the woman behind the pen name, or the memories she’s spent a lifetime suppressing.

When a retrospective of Peter’s work is announced at a prestigious London gallery, an old friend resurfaces who seems determined to drag Marie from the shadows and unmask her. Drawn back to Italy, she feels the past begin to stir: the heat, the secrets, the girl she once was. What does she owe the dead – and how far will she go to protect the living?

Yesterday I did it again. I went out an met people I don't know. I went with @outdooradventuregirlsuk on a #friendshipswalk in partnership with @mindomountains and @mountainwarehouse who kindly #gifted us all a new rucksack. Lovely Saturday morning that also happened to be #yorkshireday with coffee, fresh air, walking, meeting new people, catching up a friend I don't see enough of and 8.5km on my local stomping ground. You know I'm forever grateful of the area I get to call home but when you're out with people who have never seen it and you see and hear their reaction to sights, you get another boost of gratitude.

PART 6

Thats a wrap 🎬

2351 miles traveled on planes and trains and automobile. 2 adults, 2 kids, 3 suitcases, 4 rucksacks, lots of steps and escalators and WE DID IT !

About 10 km a day walked. What a holiday !! What an experience. I really had an amazing time. But I'm knackered and need a month to recover and relive my 8000 photos I took.

Absolutely amazing experience, it was stressful at times keeping to an schedule. The most stressful was at 3pm I got an email saying my connection train was cancelled due to the extreme heat. That was a lot of tears and 1.5 hours trying to sort out when all I could see was SERVICE FULL on all the other trains for 3 days but it actually worked out better for us.

Scariest part of the whole holiday was the Parisian taxi to the airport. We used UBER on all parts and they were brilliant,  but this one we changed. O my god, I thought I was going to be dead before the airport. The road sign said 90, the taxi was doing 125 and all the other cars were in sync so everyone was doing 125, all whilst jumping lanes and  driving 6 inches from the car in front.  Hardest 26 minutes of the holiday.

PART 5

Bonjour Paris,

An end to our first time abroad in 10 years. Paris you have my heart. I listened to people for years saying Paris isn't that impressive but Paris you really are impressive. The city of love does something to you. As soon as we arrived I was in love. What a beautiful place full of amazing places to visit. The people were so kind and so welcoming and the food was beautiful. A bit difficult to get things for my fussy eater but it was do-able (there's always a maccys). We had the most perfect location and i think that really helped. I would love to visit you again and highly recommend it if you've not visited. What an absolutely great holiday celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and its my birthday this week. Paris for my birthday week. What a treat !

PART 3

Bonjour Toulouse,

After 4 days in Barcelona and a 5 hour train journey we had a 4 day pit stop in Toulouse. The whole point was to relax and thats what we did ! Long lie ins, full bellys, early nights and hours of leisure round the pool. Another heat wave, a South France heat wave takes no prisoners. 38° as the sun sets ! I ate wayyyyy to much bread in this one , way too much! but it was just the best. I saw some of the best sunsets I've ever seen here in the City of Pink. Lovely little city to see with some really lovely places on out journey.
