Two years ago, we launched the Girls’ Education and Mentorship Initiative (Project GEMINI), built on three pillars:

- Advocacy
- Educational support through school enrolment
- Mentorship

Two years ago, we began with advocacy. Today, we’re taking another step towards ensuring that vulnerable girls have access to quality education.

We’re pleased to announce that, in partnership with The Grocery Lady, we are providing secondary school scholarships for 10 girls from strawberry-farming communities in Plateau State, many of whom work alongside their mothers to help support their families.

We’re doing this to give these girls the freedom to dream, the opportunity to build brighter futures, and a better chance of escaping the cycle of poverty and early child marriage.

Because for us, this is more than a scholarship.

It is one more girl in a classroom instead of being forced into an early marriage. One more girl empowered to make choices about her future. One more dream that poverty doesn’t get to cut short.

And while we’re starting with 10 girls, our hope is to reach many more.

Join us in making that possible

Support their educational journey by donating to Project GEMINI. No contribution is too small to make a difference.

Account Name: Arm the Child Foundation
Bank: Access Bank
Account Number: 0097651513

Let’s give more girls the opportunity to write their own stories 🧡🧡🧡

Allow me to introduce Ajoke of The Grocery Lady!!
.
In 2018, I moved from Lagos to Jos, Plateau State for NYSC and saw firsthand how much food was being lost after harvest and how farmers struggled to find markets for what they had grown.

I knew I wanted to do something about it, and that became the beginning of The Grocery Lady.

Today, TGL is an agricultural aggregation company working directly with smallholder farmers to aggregate seasonal produce and supply homes, restaurants, cafés, hotels, food processors and other businesses across Nigeria.

But we do more than move food from farm to table.

We educate consumers about locally grown produce and food safety, and process seasonal harvests into frozen fruits, jams, spices and other products to extend shelf life and reduce food loss.

Eight years later, our goal remains the same: better markets and incomes for farmers, less food going to waste, and better access to quality Nigerian-grown food.

If you’re new here, welcome!! You are going to be seeing more of me here, so stick around. There’s a lot more to Nigerian agribusiness than you think.

Do you know where your food comes from?
.
At The Grocery Lady, we work directly with farmers and follow our produce from the farm to your table.
.
Our produce is fresh, naturally grown and unwashed, so it may not always look perfect. Sizes vary, natural marks happen, and yes, it will eventually spoil because fresh produce is perishable. 🍓🥑

We don’t use preservatives to make fresh produce last longer, and we don’t compromise on quality.

Food safety isn’t just something we talk about, it’s something we practice.

If you’ve been buying fresh strawberries from us over the past 8 years, here’s a little look behind the scenes at where your berries come from and the work that goes into every harvest.
.
Nigerian-grown fresh strawberries will be back in season in December. In the meantime, we have frozen strawberries in stock, so you don’t have to wait until the next harvest to enjoy them. 🍓

Lengthy video alert 🚨😂

A big shoutout to @thegroceryladyy for constantly finding ways to educate us about the hidden wonders of our food industry. ❤️

This tasting series was genuinely enlightening for me. I got to try rambutans and Gwandan Jeji (pond apples); interesting tropical fruits that actually grow wild right here in Nigeria. Can you imagine that?! 🤯

And of course, a big shoutout to @greenfitfarms for the physical show-and-tell! I mean, the kumquats and pomegranates we tasted were picked right there on his farm. 🥹🍊

There’s still so much to discover about the incredible diversity of food growing right here in Nigeria, and I’m honestly excited to keep exploring. 🌱❤️ by @thegroceryladyy
