The Surah Al-Masad | The Rope The Story of Surah Al-Masad

This Surah was revealed at a pivotal moment in history. When Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) climbed Mount Safa to warn his people about the message of Truth, his own uncle, Abu Lahab, stood up, cursed him, and said, “May you perish for the rest of this day! Did you gather us for this?”
In response to this public display of arrogance and hostility, Allah (SWT) revealed Surah Al-Masad. It is a divine decree that those who use their wealth and power to fight the truth will find that very wealth becoming their ruin.

• The Fire of Flames: A direct play on his name, Abu Lahab (Father of Flame). His name, which he thought was a title of pride, became a prophecy of his end.
• The Wife (Umm Jamil): She was a wealthy woman who used her influence and resources to harass the Prophet, even scattering thorns in his path.
• The Rope: The “twisted fiber” around her neck symbolizes the heavy burden of her own malice. Just as she carried firewood (metaphorically spreading the “fire” of hate), she will carry the weight of her deeds in the hereafter.

This isn’t just history; it’s a timeless warning. No amount of money, family status, or worldly gain can protect a person from the consequences of their actions.

The Most Beautiful Description of Allah’s Light The Meaning of the “Verse of Light” (Surah An-Nur 35-38)

This video features some of the most profound verses of the Holy Quran, describing the “Light of Allah” and the qualities of those who seek it.

The Parable of the Light (Verse 35):
Allah describes His guidance as a beautiful light.

Scholars explain the symbols within this parable:
• The Niche: Represents the chest of the believer.
• The Crystal: Represents the pure heart of the believer.
• The Lamp: Represents the Light of Faith and Revelation (The Quran).
• The Oil: Represents the “Fitrah” (natural purity) of the soul, which is ready to accept the truth even before it reaches them.

The Houses of Worship (Verse 36):
This light is found and nurtured in the “houses of worship” (the Masajid), where Allah is remembered and glorified day and night.

The Character of the Believer (Verses 37-38):
True believers are those who do not let worldly business or trade distract them from their primary duty to Allah. They perform their prayers and give charity, hoping for Allah’s grace and a reward that is beyond their own deeds.

May Allah guide us all to His light.

A powerful duʿāʾ the Prophet ﷺ would recite during Tahajjud.
Let these words soften your heart and bring you closer to Allah:
“O Allah, all praise belongs to You.
You are the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and everything within them.
All praise belongs to You, for You are the Owner of the heavens and the earth and all that is in them.
All praise belongs to You. You are the Light of the heavens and the earth and everything within them.

All praise is Yours.
You are the Truth.
Your promise is true.
Meeting You is true.
Your Word is true.
Paradise is true.
Hellfire is true.
Muhammad ﷺ is the true Prophet.
And the Day of Judgment is true.

O Allah, to You I have fully submitted.
In You I believe.
Upon You I rely.
To You I return.
With Your help I strive.
And to You I turn for judgment.

So forgive me, O Allah, my past and future sins,
those done in secret and those done openly.
You are the One who brings forward and the One who puts back.
There is no god worthy of worship except You.” Ameen!
