After speaking to a therapist, a man decided to take control of his daily life by controlling what he can, starting with a simple breakfast. FULL SHORT ON MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL (Link in bio) 🎬📺 — This little short came from the heart. It’s #internationalmenshealthweek so I figured it would be appropriate to share this art of mine. I had a really hard time eliminating my darlings with a scene that didn’t make it to the Final Cut after I did some research on the social responsibility behind making a short of this type (see: the Werther Effect). In the end, I believe I made the right decision. I’m happy with what I’ve made, and it doesn’t belongs to me anymore, but to the world. If you’re reading/watching this, I hope it encourages you to stick around for this party called life, and that you keep the faith that things will get better. BRANCHES (2022) TRAILER IS LIVE!!! This one is special to me because it's a family production where all three of us had all hands on deck. There were times when I wanted to just give up, but they wouldn't let me. Together, we saw this microbudget short film through to the end, and because of that, I am proud. BRANCHES (2022) is about a mother who begins to question her sanity after sinister visions manifest in her home. I can't wait for you all to see it. I remember being incapable of holding back my tears at the altar when I saw you. It was like I’d become overwhelmed by the awe of witnessing a miracle, previously only accessible through a dream. That was a perfect day from end to end in a new world. Still, I get that happy little buzz in my heart when I say “my wife” when speaking about you. I still “blush” when you stare at me with those eyes. It feels good to know we still say “I love you” with purpose behind it, and not like it’s some tired script. You love me in a way that feels familiar beyond my years. It’s as if we’ve been here before, many times, and somehow we always connect under and across the stars. Loving you for five years has been easy. You’re my best friend, not simply for how long we’ve known each other, but for always being everything a true friend is supposed to be. Thank you for the daily laughs, long talks, fun dates, and unyielding partnership. P.S. For Black History Month, I wanted to try something new and recite a monologue by a Black Actor whose work I consistently admire: the one and only Danielle Deadwyler. Her performance in STATION ELEVEN on @hbomax entered my eyes and ears, and never left my heart. This monologue in particular replays in my head every time I think about this show. If I should choose to pursue acting, I hope to be even a fraction as talented as she is onscreen one day. I hope this monologue inspires you to catch up with her work if you’re unfamiliar. She is known for a handful of critically-acclaimed dramas including TILL and The Harder They Fall. I want to be transparent in admitting how nervous I am in posting this. Sending my love to the Actors out there who’ve made this their profession, whether on stage or in front of the lens. Three weekends ago, I took a journey to a place I’ve never been before: New York. 🗽 It was a super quick two-day work trip for me, so I didn’t do many of the tourist attractions, but I had a great time shooting for @merci_dema ! It always makes my soul happy to have exciting opportunities like these for my company at Higher Brand Films. 🎥🎬👨🏾‍💻 Been editing just about every night, so pardon my non-flashy IG reel that I’m randomly posting at 1:30 a.m. After this project is done, I’ll see about editing my vlogs for my YT channel. Today, I had the honor of attending the Adobe Creative Café at Prairie on Park in Milwaukee. In reflection, I have so many stories to tell about what happens when you decide to keep going after facing heavy bouts of adversity. I met a handful of inspiring people, including Jo Amos, one of the portfolio reviewers on site who said so many wonderfully-affirming things once she saw my website www.brandonhadnot.com. For the 10-15 minutes that we spoke, I had the sensation of sunlight hitting my skin like the first sign of spring after a long winter. Having someone I aspire to be like in this industry say such positive things about my portfolio truly made my day. Thank you for your kindness and insight, Jo! I don’t know what happens next, but my hands are open for any opportunities that may come, and for the first time in a long time, I’m allowing myself to be excited about it! ♥️🙏🏾🎨 — Professional headshot by the incredible @kalidawphoto who I had the honor of meeting in-person there! A little more BTS from my POV on set for IN HOLDING, a Horror-Romance short film that I had the honor to be a part of as Lighting Designer/Gaffer. Can’t stress enough how great it was to work side-by-side with @shunpfilms for this as he framed his compositions (and supplied extra lights)! Now that production has wrapped (meant to say Saturday in the vid btw 😅), it’s time for some sweet editing and VFX in post production! 💪🏾🎬 Super happy to dust off my speed editor and DaVinci Resolve again! Another huge shoutout to Cast and Crew! I haven’t felt this level of euphoria in such a long time. 🙏🏾♥️ Did I mention Crafty was 🔥🔥🔥🔥?! All three days of production, in fact. Over the past two weekends, I had the absolute privilege to run Lighting Designer/Gaffer for @inholdinglovestory with an incredible production squad. The cast was immensely talented and I learned a handful from the crew, especially DP (Dir. of Photography) who brought equipment that elevated the set and alleviated much pressure on my end! Big thanks to everyone on set for being so kind! Major shoutout to all the PAs! HMU 💈🧑🏾‍🎤🧛🏿‍♂️y’all snapped! Art Department came with the movie set magic! 🎨 Sound had everything crisp and punchy! 🔊🎚️ DP had everybody looking GOOD! 🎥 Felt like a dream and I can’t wait for the opportunity to work with these folks again. Another major shoutout to my wife and kids who were very supportive and patient with me being away from home for this! It’s been like 1.5 years since I’ve been on a set. Anybody who knows me, knows my heart is so full from this experience of working with Filmmakers, especially from my hometown. 414 I LOVE Y’ALL!! Milwaukee is full of so much talent!
