The half guard passing detail most people miss 👇

Most people get stuck in half guard because they’re using their hands for the wrong jobs.
Control the skull, turn the head, wedge the thigh with the elbow, free the hand, and pass straight to mount.

Control the shoulder rotation with your elbows, isolate the arm, and attack the Americana.
When they bridge and extend the arm overhead, lift it past the head, wedge with your head position, and mount into the finish.

One escape creates the next attack.

You’re giving them too much space in north-south.

Beat the frames before they recover guard.
Shoot your hips underneath the arms, collapse the distance, and isolate the hands before the scramble starts.

Pressure creates the attack.

Side control starts with the shoulders.
Control the rotation with your elbows, then bring both knees on belly to trap the arm and isolate it.
Break the structure first—then attack.

Front headlock → they sit back to free the head.

Step over, get under the armpit, backstep to knee pinch, and attach the kimura.

Inside position → triangle.

Control the bicep, mess with the base, get under the armpit, and shoot the leg.
Once the head and arm are trapped, the finish is already there.

Small window. Big opportunity.

Omoplata gets stuck because they grab your foot.

Don’t fight it.
Post the foot, slide out, face them, and reset the angle.
If they hold the ankle—you can pull it free and reinsert.

Small adjustment. Big finish.

They try to escape out the back door from bottom side control.

Switch the head position.
Run the hips to north/south.
Drive through the armpit and triceps to shut the door and land in knee pinch.

Small detail that keeps the control.

Butterfly guard with head and arm control.
If they won’t go over, it’s not about pulling harder—it’s shoulder pressure.

Float with the lower body, raise the elbow without disconnecting the chest, then drop the elbows to finish the reversal.

Don’t release the head too early. Drop your hands, let your elbows start the rotation, feet power it, come up to mount.
Hand position sets everything.
