You go to the hospital and return home empty. And you have to deal with the questions and repeating your story over and over. The weird shame you carry for not birthing “properly”. The idea that you somehow failed. The guilt!

The more we share our stories, the more we can heal. We remind each other that we are not alone. Thank you to this strong couple for sharing their story and thank you @femilazarus1 for using your platform in this way. We appreciate it!

Also, we can do better as a society to help bereaved families. No family should be given their dead baby in a nylon bag. This adds to the trauma. There are better ways to do things. Respecting people is important!

We have such a long way to go in certain parts of the world while charities like @sandscharity @tommys are doing great work in the UK, in other parts of the world especially African counties, families don’t get support.

It is time to think about building a structure in place that can change the way bereaved families are treated and supported after a loss. This story was heart reaching, not only dealing with the trauma of losing your baby, but also the disrespectful way the hospital handled the situation.

Praying that things get better and families find healing and support through this pain.

I have been thinking about our journey! How this community started. How I just wanted to do something to help other people.

We are in 2024 and I am wondering if it’s okay to still do something as baby loss awareness week approaches.

I have received a few messages and I know many people are hurting! I really want to do this, but I can’t do it alone. I honestly have questioned my capacity but I also almost feel like it’s bigger than me, almost like I don’t have a choice. It’ll be VIRTUAL! A safe space to speak, share and heal.

I was sad when I woke up this morning. I felt I should be sad. It was completely justified. But then my 3 beautiful kids came into the room screaming "good morning," and my sadness dissolved into gratitude. Doesn't mean the emotions aren't there, but it is okay to embrace your blessings even through sadness.

We need to do better and be more sensitive. Dealing with that trauma is enough, the least a woman deserves is privacy and people who are sensitive to her pain.
