Our goal is to raise $40,000. This will cover our operating costs and establish a true living wage for the artists, healers and facilitators who pour their hearts into this work—including our founder and director, Sari Brown @saribrownmusic

The campaign is officially LIVE! Keep an eye on your inbox for our official launch email with all the details.

We’re feeling the transformative, joyful spookiness of healing connections in the air! We’d love to celebrate Day of the Dead at The Fledge with you tomorrow night.

Here’s what you need to know:

💞This event is TRULY all-ages. So it’s very family/child-friendly, and single childless adults and everyone/everything in between will also get a lot out of it.
💀You are invited to bring photos and other objects for our Día de los Muertos Ofrenda altar to connect with loved ones who have passed on. Through this communal space we are also connecting with all the ancestors—human, plant, animal and otherwise—that make us who we are. A typical part of this Mexican tradition is to bring food that the dead ones loved, as a way to delight and honor them (nothing too crazy but you’re welcome to bring some non-perishables!)
🎫It’s best to get tickets in advance on GiveButter if possible, or get there early! https://givebutter.com/Healing-Feast-October-2026
🅿️ Parking on the street is free near the Fledge
⏱️Arrive around 5:00 PM to make sure you can easily get a spot and can get checked in, get settled, have a meditative moment to place your Ofrenda object on the altar.
🫔Come hungry! We’ve got the most amazing assortment of tamales that are gluten free, allergen friendly, and have vegan options!

I spent the day yesterday in the kitchen with The Healing Feast, helping prepare for their Ancestor Celebration this Friday, and I left feeling so incredibly fulfilled. ❤️

From the moment I walked in, I felt right at home. It felt so good to be back in a kitchen, working alongside others, sharing laughs, learning from one another, and putting our time and energy into something that means so much more than just preparing food.

If you haven’t followed The Healing Feast, please do! And if you ever have the opportunity to volunteer, I can’t recommend it enough. Sari is such a patient teacher and really makes space for everyone to learn and contribute. Even with my years in the kitchen, I picked up a lot of new tricks!

I’m already looking forward to the next one in Detroit. So grateful to have been a small part of this. ❤️

🫔We’ll have allergen-friendly, kid-friendly, and vegan options! Strawberry tamales and Dulce de calabaza are a hit with the young ones. No gluten, tree nuts, peanuts, soy or eggs in anything, and options with no dairy or meat.

We are so excited to hold our next event at @thefledge, and to share with @thefledgefoundation 20% of whatever funds we raise to support the amazing work they’re doing in our community. We’ve admired what they do and been involved with other community events there for a long time, and it’s so fitting to celebrate Día de los Muertos for our first event with them as the host!

The Fledge is a radically inclusive ideation and maker space, incubator, and accelerator in Lansing, Michigan. They support the people and ideas that are building a more just, equitable, and cooperative economy—right here in our community. They run community events, support worker-owned cooperative businesses, and provide resources, mentorship, and space for entrepreneurs, artists, and organizers who are doing things differently.
Come out this Friday, 10/30, 5:30-8:30 PM to support The Fledge and The Healing Feast, two non-profits who are creating spaces to do things differently and build thriving, life-giving community for all.

This Day of the Dead event will offer connection with the ancestors and ancestral healing, live music, storytelling, art-making, community drumming, movement, and dialogue. Featuring the magical community-weaving of @saribrownmusic , @bryanaclover , @sundancelivingwaters , and Sari + Marcelo’s famous Mexican tamales in a variety of flavors, including vegan options (everything is gluten free and friendly for many other common allergens).
Save your spot in advance to make sure they don’t run out! Sliding scale and free tickets are available in advance, as well as opportunities for energy exchange as a volunteer.

This summer, @dinahdewald led us in the first ever “Wilderness Dip” for a small gathering of The Healing Feast . It was sweet, magical, playful, and profound. Tomorrow, Saturday, she is facilitating a water ritual with us in Okemos from 2:00-4:00 PM, and we’d love to have you there! We probably won’t be getting quite as wet as we did in June, but I expect that in a different way we’ll go even deeper. All are welcome to attend, free will donations appreciated if you’re able, and we do ask you to join our Patreon if you haven’t yet (it’s free). Exact location will be emailed tomorrow to those who are signed up, and also posted on Patreon. L/nks r you know where!

Also, if you love what The Healing Feast is all about and you want to support us in a unique way, tomorrow BEFORE the ritual we are doing some simple, short video interviews with participants that will be used in promotional material. We may still have space for 1-2 more people to be interviewed—if you’re interested, let us know! by @thehealingfeast

For our online birthday party/open mic gathering the other night, I compiled some details about how The Healing Feast has grown over the past two years since she first began. I’m sharing them here now:

🧡22 feasts by the end of this month
🧡Our non-profit formed in December 2025, and 501(c)3 status was granted in March 2026
🧡We have a 9-person board of directors doing amazing work
🧡An average of 16 free tickets have been given away each event
🧡$3375 total shared with other non-profits like Revolutionary Love, Detroit Black Community Food Sovereignty Network, All of the Above Hip Hop Academy (Lansing), Mothering Justice, Helping Women Period, Traverse City Children’s Garden, Growing Hope (Ypsilanti), We the People Opportunity Farm (Ypsilanti), Neutral Zone Teen Center (Ann Arbor), Wild Ones Red Cedar Chapter
🧡$21,806 of income from grassroots support for our events
🧡$10,145 raised so far from our first ever fundraising campaign (the goal is $40k in one-time gifts or projected annual gifts by the end of the year!)
🧡$26,500 of income from grants
🧡Our first event started with 33 people, our record high was 76, and our current average is 50
🧡We now host The Healing Feast eight times a year at seasonal turns, and approximately two small gatherings per month
🧡We are centering queer, melanin-rich, neurodivergent, disabled, otherwise marginalized/alternative voices - while recognizing that we are a majority white-led organization and being conscious of how we use our privilege, share space, and create real, empowering inclusion
🧡We are not focused on fighting what’s wrong in the world but simply being an alternative to it—being the community of radical abundance, creativity, and healing that we long for
🧡We are creating consistent community with people returning and traveling distances to participate
🧡We are creating space for transformation, and the real achievement of these past two years are the qualitative testimonials of many of the people involved in our community

These photos are from the 1st and the latest (22nd) Healing Feasts. If you want to take a trip down memory lane and see one snapshot from each of our events, go join our Patreon for free! by @thehealingfeast

If you’ve had our tamales before, you know you want more. If you’ve never had our tamales before, you do NOT want to miss out on this experience of diving into the ancestral culinary treasures of Mexico with us! This October 30th, come for the food... and stay for the healing community!

We just celebrated The Healing Feast’s second birthday on Tuesday, because our first event ever was October 20th, 2024. We served chicken and tofu barbacoa. But a little-known bit of lore is that the roots of The Healing Feast are in tamales. A couple months earlier, on 7/14/24, our founder @saribrownmusic and Marcelo got married. They spent the month leading up to it cooking and freezing tamales for their guests. The way that they organized and shared that meal helped in many ways for The Healing Feast to sprout and grow into what it is today.

At The Healing Feast of Ancestral Wisdom for Future Generations, we’ll be serving up a variety of tamales: chicken with salsa verde, pork with salsa roja, vegan bean & veggie with salsa verde, and a traditional Día de los Muertos dessert of dulce de calabaza (pumpkin sweetened in panels syrup and served with milk). We might even throw in some strawberry tamales by popular demand! Gluten free and mostly allergen friendly everything!

This Day of the Dead event will also offer connection with the ancestors and ancestral healing, live music, storytelling, art-making, community drumming, movement, and dialogue. Featuring the magical community-weaving of @saribrownmusic , @bryanaclover , @sundancelivingwaters .

Join us at @thefledge in Lansing on Friday, October 30th, 5:30-8:30 PM (doors at 5:00) for a magical, transformative community experience. Save your spot in advance to make sure they don’t run out! Sliding scale and free tickets are available in advance, as well as opportunities for energy exchange as a volunteer.

20% of all proceeds will be given back to @thefledgefoundation , a radically inclusive maker and incubator space serving the community in the heart of Lansing. by @thehealingfeast

Happy Birthday to The Healing Feast! What a gift that the Goddess of Life, the source of all healing connections, has chosen to become flesh in this time, in this way, in this community and movement. Two years ago today we were experiencing her unique presence on earth for the first time. Today I wear orange and raise my candle of grounding to her and am about to lead a lit ritual open mic birthday party for her!

Tomorrow I’ll post more about the milestones and transformations we’ve experienced in these past two years of journeying together! by @thehealingfeast

It’s that time again! We have such an amazing community converging around our Healing Feast of Ancestral Wisdom for Future Generations in Lansing. And it takes so much to pull one of these experiences off! Volunteering for us is a meaningful way to make deeper connections as we weave healing community, and provide free tickets in exchange for your loving labor! Some volunteers choose to donate or purchase tickets to support our non-profit, and we happily receive whatever is aligned.

We are still needing to fill the following volunteer slots:
- kitchen day on Weds 10/28 - 9-1 or 10-2
- kitchen work on the Feast day Weds 10/30 - 9-1, 1-5, or 2-6:30
- event set up on Fri 10/30 - 1-5
- event clean up on Fri 10/30 - 8:30-10 (usually combined with another role)
- kitchen clean-up on 10/31 - 10-2 by @thehealingfeast

We are delighted to have @sundancelivingwaters closing out the Healing Feast of Ancestral Wisdom for Future Generations with one of his legendary drum circles. When Sunny leads a circle, the whole community finds their rhythm and their healing power within. You can drum, rattle, clap, shake, dance, sing, shout, or just meditate and feel the vibrations... whatever path you choose, you will feel like a part of something greater.

Sundance found his path to the drum in 1990 while desiring to give more to his drum circle community. He traveled to Senegal, Guinea, Egypt, Jamaica, and Brazil in search of where this powerful music comes from and the spiritual meanings within these traditions. Sunny found the true magic in the free-form expression of the community drum circle and has facilitated circles around the world at music festivals, in schools, and for business team building events.

His philosophy is that the gift to share is that the true drummer’s path comes from within. “Listen to your own heartbeat, and find your own song!”

Sundance’s community drum circle will be the closing climax of an evening filled with music, movement, storytelling, art, dialogue, and of course, delicious, nourishing food. Also featuring an all-ages ancestral healing experience led by @bryanaclover , healing songs from @saribrownmusic and her band, and Sari + Marcelo’s famous Mexican tamales in a variety of flavors, including vegan options. (everything is gluten free and friendly for many other common allergens).
