Here’s a good place to start if you would like to follow along with The Helms House! I am so glad you are here ☺️ by @thehelmshouse_

Our youngest will head to his first high school dance. To be honest, since all of the older kids are either out of college or in college, I forgot about the fall and spring dances of high school 🫣
Don’t worry, I quick stroll down memory lane brought it all back! Here’s to an evening of Ubering our son from one local to another 🤣🤣
Will you be an Uber service for your son or daughter this evening?

I love a good cozy little corner. And these club chairs just might be the best seats in the house. They are deceptively comfortable and when the sun comes through the window, you are left feeling all warm and fuzzy 🥰
The picture frame molding along with the art and its own lighting add details that only add to this corner’s coziness.
Tell me…where’s your favorite cozy corner in your home?

Social media - what a cool way to interact with the world. While it definitely requires balance, social media provides an avenue for creativity.
Which social media platform is your favorite? I’m gonna have to say Instagram.

You know what? If you were to ask me, “Are you a good cook?” I would have said, “no.” I didn’t grow up learning how to cook. Supper was just meeting the need of hunger. However, recently my daughter told me, “I don’t know why you say you can’t cook. You’re a good cook.” The comment made me smile and was encouraging…after 23 years of showing up and learning and trying again and again, I have made progress in my cooking abilities ☺️ … and apparently my family has noticed 🙌🏻🙌🏻
So cook the meal. Save reels that hi light meals you want to try. Ask a friend to show you how to make their family’s favorite. Every little effort makes progress. Hopefully this will be a little encouragement to the fellow mom who struggles to know how to cook!

Even though it was HOT 🥵 out this afternoon, I pushed ahead with fall porch decorating.
Every year I am hopeful for crisp, cool fall weather by October but then Alabama reminds me that it’s Alabama and I push my hope back to the month of November 🤣
For this fall look, I totally went for an organic feel: large branch, dried out cornstalks, and dried hydrangea heads. The pumpkins are courtesy of Trader Joe’s.
Are you loving the organic, use-what-you-have look OR do you prefer a more colorful fall arrangement?

Well, summer is over and fall is creeping in. It’s time to remove the dead plants and get ready to either plant cold season crops or prepare the soil for winter.
What do you miss about your summer garden?

Building a life that feels like a Nancy Meyers’ movie is a tall order! I feel like this life would be intentionally curated with cozy and charm. What other components would go into this life? ☺️
