I watched as dedicated walkers embarked on a 24-mile journey, walking from 119th and Western to Rogers Elementary. Their mission was clear: to support the next generation of @pursuescholars - As a former scholar, it was so inspiring to see this community come together to carry on a legacy that has meant so much to me.

After the symbolic race, the celebration kicked off with local eats, magic, and more to entertain everyone who had put in the hard work - Curated by @_once.and.forever

I’m thrilled to announce that because of their incredible efforts, we didn’t just walk for our scholars—we hit our fundraising goal of $150,000! Every step taken and every dollar donated will ensure that more students and their families have the resources they need on their college journey. This legacy is moving forward, and I couldn’t be prouder.

Six months of pure twin magic with Gustavo and La’Kai! 👶👶

Capturing these early moments isn’t just for now – it’s for them, for their future, to look back and see their own amazing start. So grateful their parents chose THE HERRING EFFECT to document their journey!

What an inspiring evening documenting the launch of FCA Chicago’s Flag Football League at Chicago Christian High School! 📸

It was fantastic to witness the excitement of these young athletes, but even more so, to see the foundation being laid for community, character, and opportunity, as Alex McElroy so perfectly put it. Proud to have captured these moments!

Take the photo.

Even if it’s messy, blurry, or unplanned.
One day, it might mean more than you ever expected.

In my latest blog, “Capturing With Heart: Photos That Hold Us, Now and Forever,” is a gentle reminder to be in the frame—with the people you love, in the moments that matter. Especially during seasons like this, when joy and remembrance often walk hand in hand. 💛

This beautiful collaboration between @blackluxecandles and @summersarkco was all about slowing down, pouring love into yourself, and creating something magical. From hand-poured candles guided by the artistry of Black Luxe to building vibrant bouquets with Summer’s Ark — every moment was rich in scent, color, and intention.

Black-owned. Creativity-filled. Overflowing with reasons to love them.

Follow @blackluxecandles and grab your tickets for the next Bloom & Glow on June 1st — and yes, @theherringeffect will be there again to capture the beauty in every detail. taken in Black Luxe Candle Co. by @theherringeffect
