POSTS STORIES REELS

Have spent the last several days sinking into the quagmire of sickness that has ripped through our house - ughhhhhhh. The worst. Must be the flu but who knows any more. Just awful. But in those brief moments where I could sit upright and force air into the small patch of lung that wasn’t busy manufacturing 3M’s next superglue, I’ve been busy building out an old MacBook Pro to try and revive my old Kore2 installation. With some sweet help from AI to help get around issues that 15+year old installers have on newer hardware, and navigating the non existent authorization service for the Kore software - I am ecstatic to report that the monster lives!!! One single nostalgic tear runs down my snotty nose haha. If you know, you know. Kore was a singular, peerless creative tool that has not really been matched since its abandonment. (Props to @pluginguru Unify2 for becoming a rich playground that offers so much along the same lines and so much more as its own ecosystem though). I have dreamed about this so many times and could t ever figure it out. AI creating art and plagiarizing art sucks, but I am a flawed human and will happily take the assist from it in helping me resurrect this monster of an instrument. The ability for folks to get old electronics working again is fascinating to me - it’s been a long time coming where we’ve all been “but why does this not work any more”? Planned obsolescence is stupid. Anyways - a bleak, sick week that has a great win tucked inside - yay!! (Cough cough hack hack). #kore2 #audioproduction by @thehipcola

Definitely seeing the results of putting in hard reps making barista-worthy froth art. Don’t give up on your dreams, folks! by @thehipcola

Stars are setting everything right. It’s been a helluva run this last year but things are getting back to a nice dull roar. Nice to find some quiet fire time in the backyard on a gorgeous fall weekend. Huge gratitude for @kurtisadamus @jamesjmcgowan @thespacebetweenofficial @edrasilvacavada @jenniedrums @conor_veinotte @johnkofidapaah, Collected Strands, @grfn_music, @skillmantom - and my often partner in audio, @johnrosefield5 for filling my days with your music and creative visions. What a gift working on your art has been :). by @thehipcola

Check out this amazing song written by my friend Kurtis Adamus - “Sunday Says”!!

Kurtis is an insanely talented songwriter and has an incredible voice. This song was recorded over several months and then mixed over the following year and change while we jumped into other songs and spent time thinking about production choices for this one. All of that time was well used as I think the slow approach to completion had paid off in spades!

Check out Kurtis’ other music on the streamers - all fantastic songs as well (and I’ve been lucky to be a part of a few of those).

And if you have the chance to catch one of his rare live shows, don’t miss it! 🙂. (Yah, I’m a big fan!) by @thehipcola

Quick getaway @LacPoissonBlanc. I think this lake might be my favourite place to camp. It’s got that magic thing going for it, epic skies, epic weather, epic silence. Pure fun, even when the weather literally deposits a rain cloud over your site for two days. Whatevs. Camping FTW. #camping by @thehipcola

Incredibly proud of this amazing young woman :). Police Foundations - graduated, summer job in enforcement, and continuing her education in emergency planning this fall. Keep bringing it, Mackenzie!! :)). by @thehipcola

@riversound_audioservices @johnkofidapaah Live performance multitrack recording!! Had a dream last week that a storm might happen and shit the power down / so I brought my APC battery backup to give me time to save the tracks. Guess what just shows up? A thunderstorm lol. #audiotech #livemusic #livejazz #afrojazz @johnrosefield5 by @thehipcola

Killer show! The sound just as great as they did in the 90s. @lowestofthelowmusic by @thehipcola

After putting some serious minutes into this, I’m ready to show the world my flat white art. The lesson here is to not be discouraged when you’re new at something, folks. It takes time to get your chops down. This is the culmination of half a dozen attempts over the past year. The good stuff rarely comes easy.

Just arrived at a winter paradise for a weekend with my girl while we sort out some late season sniffles. Being sick is WAY better by the fire than not - amirite? Brought my entire mixing setup and next week I’ll be diving into finishing a live album for @johnkofidapaah, the second single for @thespacebetweenofficial and round 1 mixes for @jamesjmcgowan ‘s Threads of Fate. 3 wildly different but incredible projects by artists who invest deeply into their craft. I’m honoured to work in service of their creative visions! And yah, I’m at the slippers phase of life. Whatevs. ;). #audioengineer #mixengineer #audioproduction #ottawamusic by @thehipcola

Perfect night! Really enjoyed the “middlers”@basset.theband and @mandaa_lowe and Elliot!! by @thehipcola

Where does the time go?? 21 years old today, kiddo. You’re in this beautiful spot where simultaneously you’ve already lived and accomplished so much, while not really even having got too far out of the gate. :). It’s been a beautiful journey watching you coalesce into the incredible, heart-led woman you are today, Mackenzie. We couldn’t really be more proud of you! It seems like a good opportunity to leave you with a line or two - not that you need much. ;). Never stop exploring your dreams or your heart. Everything that you’ll need going forward you already have :). Happiness comes from within. Shine yours brightly everywhere you go - the world needs it now more than ever. We love you so much! Can’t wait to see where it all goes for you from here! And happy birthday :)
