Want your home to smell like a luxury hotel? There’s a very easy trick—and it has almost nothing to do with cleaning.

Luxury hotels understand something we forget at home: scent changes how a space feels.

And the secret isn’t making your entire house smell like one giant candle.

It’s giving each space its own little sensory moment.

Think: something subtle and fresh in the entryway…

A warmer scent in the living room…

And something clean and quiet on your linens.

Even your bathroom can have a signature scent.

And here’s the part that makes it feel expensive: you should barely notice it.

Your home shouldn’t smell like fragrance.

It should just smell… good.

Save this if you want your home to feel a little more like a luxury hotel—without actually booking the hotel. by @thehomebetween

Designing a beautiful kids’ room doesn’t mean choosing a theme they’ll outgrow or spending a fortune on decor that needs to be replaced when their interests change.

The goal is to create a timeless kids’ room that can evolve with your child — and that starts with knowing where to invest and where to save.

1. Choose timeless furniture.

Invest in quality, classic pieces that can work through multiple stages of childhood. Think beautiful wood furniture, simple silhouettes and neutral finishes instead of themed beds or trendy colors they may quickly outgrow.

2. Keep the expensive pieces neutral.

The bigger the investment, the more timeless it should be. Your furniture, rugs and larger fixtures should create a foundation that can work whether your child is 5, 10 or 15.

3. Have fun with inexpensive accents.

This is where you can let their personality take over. Bathroom accessories, bedding, pillows, desk accessories and small decor are easy to swap when their favorite color, sport or obsession inevitably changes.

4. Use art that can evolve with them.

One of my favorite tricks: matted frames with inexpensive prints that can easily be changed out. Etsy is full of beautiful digital downloads that you can print locally for very little money. The frame stays — the art changes.

5. Design for the child they’re becoming, not just the child they are today.

Ask yourself: Will this still feel right in five years? If the answer is no, it probably belongs in the accent category — not the investment category.

The best kids’ rooms aren’t necessarily the most themed or perfectly curated. They’re rooms that feel beautiful, personal and functional today — while leaving plenty of room for your child to grow into them.

Save this if you’re designing or refreshing a kids’ room, playroom or bedroom and want to create a space that will actually grow with your child. 🤎

When we moved in, this wet bar was basically the corner where the kitchen went to die.

But we saw the potential: a beautiful transition between the kitchen and living room, and a space that could actually make entertaining feel easier.

So we invested in the things that would be difficult (and expensive) to change later: custom cabinetry and glass-front doors.

The cabinetry gave us the storage and scale we needed, while the glass doors turned the things we use for entertaining into part of the design.

And then came the fun part: styling it with a mix of high and low.

Hermès dishes, a housewarming gift from my husband.

Antique glasses from Facebook Marketplace.

My favorite wine glasses—bought in bulk at Costco (better than any expensive glasses we’ve owned!)

And everything in between.

Because I don’t think a beautiful home means buying the most expensive version of everything.

I think it means investing where it matters, saving where it doesn’t, and mixing it all together so your home feels collected rather than decorated.

That’s the difference between a room that looks expensive and a home that feels personal.

Save this if you’re planning a wet bar, kitchen renovation, or entertaining space—and send it to someone who needs permission to mix the $15 glasses with the $500 dishes.

Getting something for free doesn’t mean you can’t afford to buy it - it means you’re smart enough to know when you don’t have to. And to me, that’s the real flex.

I love a beautiful table, but I don’t think hosting should mean hours of prep, a sink full of dishes, and a recovery day afterward.

That’s why I’m obsessed with Table Two Studio plates.

They have the look and feel of a thoughtfully designed tablescape—but they’re paper. So I can create a table that feels elevated and special without pulling out the good china or spending the rest of the night thinking about what needs to be washed.

My formula for low-effort, high-impact entertaining:
✨ Beautiful paper plates + napkins
✨ Disposable utensils that actually look good
✨ One simple centerpiece
✨ A table that feels intentional
✨ And zero guilt about throwing it all away afterward

Because I want to spend my night enjoying my guests, not cleaning up after them.

And honestly? If beautiful disposable tableware makes me more likely to say yes to hosting friends for dinner, that’s a win.

Save this for your next dinner party or last-minute gathering. I rounded up some of my favorite elevated paper table setting finds — comment “PAPER” and I’ll send you the links.

A beautiful guest bathroom can feel five-star without a five-star budget. Here are the details your guests will notice:

Beautiful hand soap + lotion — because everyday essentials can still feel special.

Plush, generous towels — fresh, soft, and actually easy for guests to find.

A candle — an easy way to make the room feel inviting and smell amazing.

A discreet wastebasket — one of those practical details nobody talks about, but everyone appreciates.

Extra toilet paper — somewhere easy to grab. Never make your guests have to ask.

Hotel-style toiletries under the sink — makeup remover, razors, toothpaste, feminine products, and other little necessities they may have forgotten.

None of these things have to be extravagant. They’re about anticipating what someone might need before they have to ask.

That, to me, is the heart of hospitality.

Because creating a luxurious home isn’t always about spending more. Sometimes it’s simply about paying more attention.

Luxury is making someone feel considered.

Comment “guest” for links to some of my favorite 5-star products

Save this for the next time you’re getting your guest bathroom ready — and send it to someone who loves to host. ✨

Nobody tells you that a beautiful laundry room can make you hate laundry slightly less.

Here’s how I made mine feel completely different without a huge renovation - and trust me, you won’t look at doing the laundry the same way again!

✨SAVE THIS FOR YOUR NEXT LAUNDRY ROOM REFRESH✨

You don’t need a full renovation.

Start with the details that make the biggest difference.

First: the before.

A perfectly functional laundry room…

but it felt utilitarian, cluttered, and completely forgotten.

And because you use it all the time, that matters.

Then came the little upgrades.

I didn’t gut the room.

I just focused on the details that would have the biggest visual impact.

The result: a laundry room that actually feels like part of the home.

Make storage part of the design.

Retractable hanging and beautiful leather-look coat and bag hangers can either add to the visual clutter—or make the room feel beautifully organized.

Choose storage that looks intentional, not just functional.

Decant the boring stuff.

Matching containers instantly make everyday laundry supplies feel more elevated.

Same function.

Less visual noise.

Yes, I put art in the laundry room.

Because every room doesn’t need to be grand to deserve personality.

Art is one of the easiest ways to make a utilitarian space feel like an actual room.

Wallpaper = instant personality.

You don’t need expensive finishes everywhere.

A beautiful wallpaper can completely change the mood of a small space—and make the room feel much more considered.

The budget-friendly upgrade I’d do again.

Peel-and-stick tile gave the room the look of a more expensive renovation without the commitment (or price tag) of replacing everything.

High impact > high cost.

Your everyday spaces deserve the same attention as your “pretty” rooms.

You don’t need to spend a fortune or renovate everything.

Sometimes it’s:

better storage + less visual clutter + wallpaper + art + a few beautiful details.

And suddenly…

you don’t mind doing laundry quite so much. 🤍 by @thehomebetween

My office feels expensive. Not everything in it was.

If I were re-designing my home office, here are the 5 things I would absolutely invest in again:

✨Custom built-ins + beautiful hardware

✨A great desk

✨Art that feels personal

✨Beautiful lighting

✨Custom window treatments

And then there are the things I didn’t spend much money on: collected books, simple frames from Target and HomeGoods, a side table from World Market, and a throw pillow I found on clearance.

Those inexpensive accents are important, too. They keep the room from feeling too polished or predictable — and because they’re easy to swap out, I can refresh the room without redesigning it.

That’s my approach to a high-end home: invest in the things that are foundational, save on the things that are easily changed, and layer them together.

You don’t need an expensive price tag on every piece to create a home that feels expensive.

You need intention.

The built-ins were designed to work with my charcoal shagreen wallpaper, and I added natural quartz cabinet pulls from Etsy. It’s a small detail, but the combination feels both elevated and organic.

Even if custom millwork isn’t in the budget, don’t skip the hardware swap! This simple switch will elevate your furniture and give the room that custom look.

My Leandro desk from Arhaus is one of those pieces that anchors the entire room. It’s substantial, beautiful, and something I know I’ll have for years.

Whatever desk you choose, make sure it’s something you love and something that functions the way you need it to. This might be one of the most used items in your home and completely anchors your office.

Instead of buying something just because it “worked,” I used a vintage scarf I already owned and loved and had it framed by a local art framer. It gives the room something you simply can’t get from buying everything new.

Art and accents are your opportunities to use unique, meaningful items - a postcard from a trip, fabric from your gra by @thehomebetween

My secret to a luxury tablescape? not paying full price.

One of my favorite ways to make a table look collected, layered and expensive is to mix high-end table linens with clearance finds.

For this table, I found these gorgeous Kim Seybert Mira linen napkins and Aura placemats on sale, then layered them with an affordable Wayfair table cloth (which I bought at almost 40% off).

And honestly? You would never know.

This is one of my favorite tablescape styling tricks: spend strategically on the pieces that create the biggest visual impact, and hunt for them on sale, clearance, or during end of season markdowns.

You don’t need an entire table full of expensive pieces to create a luxurious table setting. You need the right pieces – beautiful texture, interesting pattern, layered linens, and a thoughtful color palette.

Luxury isn’t always about spending more. Sometimes it’s about knowing where to look.

Save this for the next time you’re shopping for table linens placements or entertaining essentials– and remember, check the clearance section first! 🤎

Seasonal decorating should not be themed decorating.

I love the feeling of fall—but I don’t necessarily want my house to look like a fall display.

Instead, I like to bring the season in through:
🤎 warm, earthy tones
🌿 branches and natural foliage
🤎 amber glass
🌿 seasonal flowers
🤎 woven textures
🌿 and perhaps, most importantly, candlelight

It’s less about adding obvious fall decor and more about creating the feeling of the season.

Because the most beautiful seasonal decorating isn’t announced, it’s felt.

Save this for the next time you’re ready to transition your home for fall. 🤎 by @thehomebetween
