3 years ago, on the 17th of Rabi ul Awwal, I got nikkahfied in Najaf, under the dome of Imam Ali (A.S.). 🤍

It wasn’t an extravagant destination wedding, nor was it something we had planned for years. Honestly, we barely knew what we were doing. 😭

At the time, the decision was between Madinah and Najaf. Madinah was unfortunately out of our budget, so we packed our normal Pakistani wedding clothes and made our way to Najaf.

But there was something in my heart that made Najaf incredibly special to me.

I had heard the words attributed to Rasool Allah (S.A.W.W.), “I and Ali are the fathers of this Ummah.”

And I remember thinking… if Nikah completes half of our deen, then what more could I wish for than to complete that half beneath the dome of Ali ibn Abi Talib (A.S.) — Kull-e-Iman, the entirety of faith. 🥹🤍

And somehow, Mola made it happen.

I’m not the best of people. I’m not a perfect human being, nor do I believe having my Nikah there makes me any more special or deserving than anyone else. It was simply something my heart deeply wanted, and Mola allowed it to be. For that, I will always be grateful. 🤍

So with no extravagant plans, just two clueless people in their Pakistani wedding clothes, we began our marriage in Najaf.

And today, three years later, it is the 17th of Rabi ul Awwal again, and I just wanted to share a little piece of a memory that means so much to me.

Please don’t take this in the wrong way. This isn’t showing off, nor is it a “look where I had my Nikah” post. I’m simply sharing a moment that is incredibly close to my heart because this beautiful date brought it all back to me.

Some things are simply written for you in ways you could never have planned yourself.

Alhamdulillah, always, for a beginning beneath the dome of Amir al-Mu’mineen (A.S.). 🥹🤍
