After 50 hours.

Back in the dressing room.

A quiet moment I was grateful to be allowed into.

No stage lights.
No audience.
Just the body catching up with everything it’s been through.

Ali spoke about what it asked of her —
time, focus, love, craft.

And what she discovered along the way.

That when you come up against yourself, there’s something to learn.
That it’s okay to do things your own way.
To bring your own skillset to the table.

That’s what makes life beautiful.
And varied.

And at the end of it all — gratitude.
For the community.
For the moment.
For being part of it.

25 hours in.

Audience tired.
Cast exhausted.
Nobody quite sure what’s coming next.

There were twists.
There were dips at 6am.
There were moments of “I want to be you when I grow up.”

When it got hard, someone said:
“Check in with someone.”

When asked what’s left inside?

Very little.
But also… something.

“I can do things that feel scary or hard.”
“Step by step.”
“You’re on a battlefield. Your sword is bloodied. And you’re still alive.”

Exhausted.
But buzzing underneath.

That’s live performance.

Half-hour call.
50 hours about to begin.

Before stepping onto the stage, we asked @ali_james22 what was inside her.

She said it felt like planning a wedding.
Now you just have to get married.

Relief.
Nerves.
No safety net.
Connected to something communal and alive.

She spoke about the wonder of theatre — that opening moment when the animals come down the aisle in The Lion King. The kind of magic that stays inside you.

Improvisation lives by one principle: yes, and.

Take someone else’s imagination.
Make it soar.
Live and die by making the other person look good.

And when we asked what to say if your dream feels too big?

“Fail gloriously.
And hopefully, you will fly.”

That’s live performance.

Before 50 hours begins…

We asked a few people what keeps them going when something feels long or intense.

“Matcha.”
“Energy drinks.”
(laughter)

Then…

“A feeling of how good it will feel at the end.”

And @jeremystockwell put it beautifully:

“We’re floating in the emotion of the ocean of possibility.”

That’s live theatre.

You step in not knowing exactly what will happen —
just trusting it will be worth it.
