Service Provider Red Flag #2: Refusal to Sign an Agreement/Contract Professional relationships need clear expectations, and a written agreement helps protect both you and your client. Before beginning a project, make sure you have an agreement outlining the scope of work, payment terms, deadlines, deliverables, and expectations for both parties. If a client refuses to sign an agreement, take a step back before moving forward. A clear contract helps prevent misunderstandings and establishes accountability from the start. Remember, protecting your business is just as important as delivering quality work! Service providers, have you ever encountered a client who refused to sign a contract? How did you handle the situation? Share your experiences in the comments! Follow Vetted & Booked for more tips to help you protect your business and build successful professional relationships. #VettedAndBooked #IndieAuthors #ServiceProviders by @theindieauthorassistant
Service Provider Tip #2: Determine Your Work Hours As a service provider, setting specific work hours is essential to maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Establishing boundaries between your professional responsibilities and personal time can help you avoid burnout while improving productivity and overall well-being. Remember, building a successful business also means making time to rest and recharge! Service providers, how do you balance your business responsibilities with your personal life? Share your tips in the comments! Follow Vetted & Booked for more tips to help you build and grow your business. #VettedandBooked #IndieAuthors #AuthorServiceProviders by @theindieauthorassistant

Service Provider Red Flag #2: Refusal to Show Previous Work Before hiring a service provider, you should have some idea of the quality and style of work they deliver. A professional service provider should be able to provide examples of previous projects, a portfolio, testimonials, or another way for potential clients to understand their experience and capabilities. Of course, some work may be protected by confidentiality agreements, so not every project can be publicly shared. However, a complete lack of examples or an unwillingness to provide any proof of experience is worth considering before moving forward. Authors, what’s one thing you look for before hiring a service provider? Follow Vetted & Booked for more tips and red flags to help authors and service providers build better professional relationships. #VettedandBooked #IndieAuthors #authorserviceproviders by @theindieauthorassistant
We’re excited to introduce The Indie Author Challenge, created in collaboration with the amazing authors of The Indie Author Assistant! With only three months left in the year, we’re challenging readers to step outside of their usual TBRs and spend the rest of the year discovering, reading, and supporting new-to-you Indie Authors. Our challenge board features 25 different prompts designed to help you discover Indie Authors across a variety of genres, backgrounds, locations, and experiences. There’s a little something for everyone. Readers: Pick a prompt, find an Indie Author who fits the category, and add their book to your reading list! You may even discover your next favorite author along the way. Indie Authors: This challenge is also for YOU! Use these prompts as content inspiration throughout the next three months. Introduce yourself and your books to potential readers by showing them exactly where you fit within the Indie Author community. Create posts, reels, stories, or videos answering the prompts and invite readers to get to know you, your writing, your characters, and your books. The goal is simple: help readers discover Indie Authors they may not have found otherwise while giving Indie Authors another way to connect with new readers. So grab your TBR, find an Indie Author, and let’s finish the year by reading, discovering, and supporting Indie Authors! You can find the shareable Canva graphic in my bio. Service Provider Red Flag #1: Uncompensated Extra Work Your time, skills, and expertise have value. When a client expects additional services or work beyond the original agreement without offering appropriate compensation, it’s important to recognize that as a potential red flag. Clear communication and defined boundaries can help prevent scope creep and protect the professional relationship between you and your client. Before taking on extra work, make sure everyone is clear on what’s included, what falls outside the original scope, and how additional services will be handled. Service providers: Have you ever experienced scope creep with a client? What helped you set better boundaries? Follow Vetted & Booked for more tips, resources, and insights for indie authors and service providers. #VettedandBooked #IndieAuthors #ServiceProviders by @theindieauthorassistant
Service Provider Tip #1: Build Your Online Presence Your services deserve to be seen, and having a professional website or portfolio is one of the best ways to showcase what you bring to the table. A strong portfolio allows potential clients to: • Learn more about your services • See examples of your work • Understand your experience and expertise • Get a feel for your brand and professionalism Whether you have a full website or a simple, well-organized portfolio, make sure it clearly communicates who you are, what you offer, and how clients can work with you. What’s one thing you believe every service provider should include in their portfolio? Share your thoughts below! Follow Vetted & Booked for more tips designed to help authors and service providers connect, grow, and succeed. #VettedandBooked #IndieAuthors #ServiceProviders #TheIndieAuthorAssistant by @theindieauthorassistant
