This is Elijah a 5 year old student of Justin. Recently his parents sent Justin this video of him practicing the drums to a @michaeljackson song titled “Billie Jean”. The sheer amount of tenacity and persistency in his practice is definitely an inspiration to many. Keep it up young man, never let that fire 🔥 burn out. We are selling away a Tama Imperial star drum kit (12” Hi Tom, 14” Mid Tom, 16” Low tom, 22” Kick) that comes with a 1980s refurbished Pearl 14” Steel snare and snare stand. We will also throw in a limited edition Tama Speed cobra kick pedal (With the box). All going for $488 (50% proceeds will go to charity).

Do take note that this drum kit does not come with cymbals or cymbal hardware and those are sold separately (PM for more info)

Recently a 5 year old student of mine mentioned to me that drums not only have a beat but it has a voice and it talks. That took me awhile to process but then it dawn upon me that he is perfectly correct in that statement.

To explain his logic, on top of drums being the backbeat of the band we could see drums as a voice and something that can “sing” along to. This is because every drum consist of various different pitches and tones and every time we hit it it’s like it’s talking to us. It is how we the player wants to portray a certain piece with the voice of the drums that matters. Just like different singers can interpret the same song differently we as drummers have the liberty to make our drums sing in a certain way base on our interpretation of a certain piece of music or drum solo/groove.
