NYC x TCS x 2

2nd chances don't come around too often, but I received one in a surprise email yesterday- inviting me back to run NYC Marathon with the incredible Team TCS Teachers!!

I get a proper re-do, which I feel like I've been fighting tooth & nail for since last year's unfortunate DNS due to ACL rupture. Just feeling incredibly lucky 🍀 & grateful.

Ran today's 8k in my Team jersey, which feels woven with superpowers 🦸‍♀️ ⚡️

PS. The art beside my treadmill is what my son drew at school & I use it as a constant reminder #BelieveInYourself

Happy October! Leaves falling, cooler temps & fall marathons are amongst us 🍂🎃 #teamtcsteachers

After 3 weeks of careful post-ultra leg recovery (copious rest days, casual walking/ biking, a sprinkle of very short runs to put out the feelers & strength targeting achy areas), today’s run finally felt SO fantastic. Zero aches, all glory!

Looks like my 50km was my long run & I’ll actually be toeing the line at the #TOwaterfront42k in 18 days repping Team TCS Teachers 🙌🏼 🏁

Is this really happening⁉️😂 No butt-crack chaffing this time, please🤞🏼🙃

Haliburton 50km Ultra. A race I dreamed of doing years ago, and the day ended up being absolute perfection.

Sitting in the post-race glory (while recovering these beaten up legs & caring for my sick child), I got crafting!

Ok fine, I was crafting up things in taper too 😆 When a race inspires crafts, you know your in the right place in life 🤍💞 Might be the trail, hippie nature of it all rubbing off as well ✌🏻 by @theintrepidsole

What a wild, authentically adventurous race day. My first Ultra! 🏁🏃‍♀️

Truly got to know the forest (lots of rocks, hills & pristine beauty), delight when seeing people (~10km between aid stations made predicted support spots quite limited, but racers & volunteers on course were incredibly encouraging & friendly), and an opportunity to spend time with just myself (many more hours than ever ran! No music, and lots of positive grateful feelings that kept flooding me).

This video says it all, with likely too many exclamation marks, muted cheering/huffing and puffing (& occasional 🤬)& not enough expressions of thankfulness to my husband & incredibly supportive friends ⚛️👑

Never would have experienced this without testing my limits & fighting my own doubts. Take the risk. Work hard. Do the thing that scares you!!! It will change you.

Celebrating an extraordinarily unique race day on this #medalmonday 🏅✨

“If you swear in the forest & no one is there to hear you, did you even swear?”. If so, then I never swore once 😆

The #haliburtonforest Ultra race series is held in a location near & dear to my heart and dished out a true test of physical & mental strength- something I have dreamed of & worked relentlessly on since my ACLr surgery 4 years ago.

Little did I know it’s one of the hardest 50km trail races in Ontario! Leg busting climbs/descents, rocky & uneven footing, multiple hour long stretches of being entirely alone with just the forest, incredibly friendly aid stations/beacons of hope & abundant marking flags that affirmed I was doing it right 🧡💙

✔️50km baby!!! Time to ice my ankles & rest!

Giddy up, it’s go time🏁
This dream has been loading for years, waiting for the right time. Well, it has arrived!

As I said good-bye to hubby, he handed me a lighter & fire starter saying “If you get lost, make a fire. The smoke will signal people to help find you.”

Ummmmm… am I really doing this?!

Here we go Haliburton Forest- it’ll largely be just you & me, winding around the rugged trails for 50km 🌲🥾

Good luck to my girls @marci_runs_and_rambles , @helenpanayiotou, @mkt6617 running the 12km & Nat running the 26km 🤍 Can’t wait for the finishline celebrations!
