Week 1 Ivy Insights:

1. What can Brown do for you? Defense.
2. Harvard: Every bit as advertised.
3. Dartmouth: Played 4 Quarters. Solid win.
4. Princeton: Did not play 4 Quarters. Costly.
5. Penn: Has talent. Came through when needed.
6. Cornell: Came close. Work to be done. 7. Columbia: Toughest opponent this week. Consistency off. Will get better. 8. Yale: Liking what I see. by @theivycovered

With chaos reigning supreme all through college football yesterday, the Ivy League was not excluded. After the upset win of Yale over Harvard, the title was split between the Crimson, the Dartmouth Big Green, and the Columbia Lions. Big congrats to the Lions who have won a title after a 63 (yes 63) year drought. Congratulations to all the 2024 Ivy League Champions. by @theivycovered

Week 10 and the wrap up to the 2024 Ivy League Football season is Saturday. If everything goes as anticipated, then the championship rests solely on the performance of the Harvard Crimson. They win against Yale, then they win the title outright. They lose however, there may be a potential three way split of the title between Harvard, Dartmouth, and surprise upstart Columbia who have been my favorite story this year. A worst to first turnaround would be a fantastic story.

But all of this hinges on “The Game”. Saturday’s nationally televised game on ESPNU will be the 140th meeting between the two stalwarts of the “Ancient 8”. Harvard statistically have been the best of the Ivy League, utilizing a two QB system between Jaden Craig and Charles DiPrima. Between the two, TDs have been bountiful with Craig’s TD to Int ratio being a very strong 20 to 3. Recipient to more thana few of those TDs has been WR Cooper Barkate, who stands a mere 75 yards away from a 1000 yard receiving season. This feat is obtainable as Barkate has gone over 75 in every game he’s played in this season.

As for Yale who were the preseason favorite to win the title this year, poor performances in conference early sank the Bulldogs. That, and a soul breaking come from way behind loss to Dartmouth put the Bulldogs with 3 league losses. Those are the only 3 loses they have had however and sit with a 6-3 record. Yale statistically, has also been one of the league’s best teams, led by very solid QP play from Grant Jordan who has over 1650 yards passing and 20 TDs to just 3 INTs all season. Yale also boasts solid play from WR David Pantelis and RB Joshua Pitsenberger who was last week’s “Top of the Trellis” winner. Between the two, 14 of Jordan’s 20 TDs have been distributed.

With this rivalry being as old and legendary as it is, it will not surprise me at all if the Bulldogs spoil the Crimson’s uncontested title, making them have to share. Let’s play “The Game” by @theivycovered
