This is me as Pete in episode 6 of the new dark comedy High Desert on @appletv. This is Pete’s complete story arc 😆 but writer @fichmannancy introduced herself to me on set and joked about writing a spin-off for my character, and Patricia and Jay talked about bringing my character back so we’ll see…!!…🤞💫

What an absolute dream to get to share the screen with legendary Oscar-winner @patriciaarquette and also work with critically acclaimed director Jay Roach. I grew up howling to all the Austin Powers movies so working with Jay was beyond beautifully surreal. And Nancy, you are just the sweetest for all you said to me. I will remember our conversations in between takes and setups, and all of your unnecessarily kind words forever.

I owe a huge thank you to my agents @avantartists Rachel Tenner Casting and @rm_casting as well as @shawncaulinyoung for his expert self-tape coaching and filming, but also the writers and producers who really tried to get me on this show. I auditioned for a co-star and then a guest star role, was pinned for the guest star, released and then repinned for that same guest star, and then booked this co-star that I never even read for 😆 but hey that’s showbiz and I’ll certainly take it. I would be remiss if I didn’t also thank the crew, thank you for being so wonderful to work with as well. It takes a village 🎥🎬🙏

Had an absolute blast volunteering as a stand-in at the @societyofcameraoperators Two-Day Crane Workshop hosted at @cinemoves earlier this month.

Getting to work with up-and-coming camera operators under the instruction of legends P. Scott Sakamoto and Dan Gold who have worked on blockbuster and Oscar-winning movies including The Revenant, The Dark Knight Rises, and Spider-Man (just to name a few) was an incredibly rewarding experience I won’t soon forget.

I learned so much myself, and needless to say my passion for being a part of filmmaking was definitely reaffirmed. Got a good workout going up and down those steps all day too, haha.

Thank you to everyone involved, I look forward to working with you all again soon! 🎥🎬🤘😎✨ #societyofcameraoperators #cinemoves #cameraoperator #actor #hollywood taken in Cinemoves by @thejac

Meet “Juney” an injured green fruit beetle 🪲 we found and nursed back to health. After a brief 31 hours in our care we set her free ✨

We discovered her outside the door to our building Sunday morning. Her wings were stuck together with some sticky substance - maybe a bunch of spider webbing 🕸️ - that was very tricky to remove without hurting her. With delicate fingers and gentle persistence we somehow did it. Her wings seemed to be ok, but she still couldn’t fly... every time she would try, she would flip and fall to the ground while her wings buzzed.

We tried to leave her in some plants outside, but she refused to leave us so we brought her upstairs and googled how to care for her. In her tiny terrarium made out of a mason jar and some potting soil she recovered, nibbling on an apple slice and resting in safety. She even buried herself at night to sleep, a normal thing for beetles to do I guess.

We took her out of her jar several times on Monday to see if she could now fly, but each time she kept falling to the ground while her wings buzzed. We thought it would be a long road to recovery, if she could even ever fly again…

But late in the afternoon Monday she surprised us. As soon as I took her out of her jar she flew right towards the windows… we were overjoyed! But also sad… we knew it was time, so we let her go that instant. As soon as I opened the window she flew right out - straight as an arrow! What a joy to witness her success at last 🥹

We’ll miss you, Juney! Thank you for visiting us briefly, we’ll never forget you… may you have a beautiful and prosperous life in the wild 🪲🫶✨

When people ask me what I do, I tell them I’m an actor. Of course I’m not just an actor, but it’s certainly one of my biggest callings in life. It took me many years before I would announce the badge proudly to strangers who’d ask, but now I don’t hesitate. I’ve been committed to it for too long to say anything else. I’ve made a career out of it even if I can’t eat from it most of the time. That said, I have absolutely been one of the lucky ones and for that I am eternally grateful. Because we have to really go to these places emotionally as actors, the physical and mental cost is very nearly everything - especially with material like this. And yet, without being able to tell stories like this I would wither. I would only be half alive, if that. I am so lucky to have found an art form that feeds my soul so deeply even if it is immeasurably taxing at times.

I encourage you to share your gifts with the world, today. Not as content. But as art. The world needs more art, now more than ever. Sending you love on your journey.

This self-tape audition was for a one-liner on a well-known medical drama a couple years ago. Got close, but didn’t book the role. We remain proud of the work. Shoutout to @avantartists for the opportunity 🙏 and @lilchinn for her space and for being my reader on this one 🫶 taken in Hollywood, CA by @thejac

“The Journey: Formless Emotion Takes Shape”
.
.
.
A free-form exploration in line work. Subconsciously yet overtly inspired by #dalí and a bit of #escher or so it would appear. Got a new pencil from @villagewellcc and had to try her out. Turns out she’s just as capable as any other pencil, but she’s still my new favorite. Don’t tell the other pencils 🤫
.
.
.
At the onset I let unencumbered emotion dictate each start and end point, delivering inhibition through graphite. This manifested as broader strokes with no intention, only vigorous commitment to each movement across the page from various directions. As my internal emotional intensity settled, the smaller more intentional lines came out. I still allowed them to wander and flow never committing to a single idea for more than a few strokes. Then boundaries were formed and literal hard lines were drawn around shadowy tornadoes, morphing them into perilous steps or perhaps the engulfing skyline of a rigid cityscape below. Lastly, I smudged and smeared many of the harder lines with my thumb - mostly because the idea of doing so made me cringe at first thought and I wanted to thrust myself into the zone of discomfort. And so a thing was made.
.
.
.
Can you see the lips of the sea in the cave? Or the waves of a tail whose end beholds a creature in and of itself? Perhaps you can see the larger wave cresting into patterns or the tiny hairs along the fringe of her massive curl. Or the rope-lined curtain of the cave, tasseled with strange growing fibers. Whatever you see, it’s there - that’s what it is. Believe it. Therein lies the irrevocable beauty of such art.
.
.
.
If you’re an artist - of any medium - you know that you have to do it, make the thing, whatever it is. If you deny it your soul screams for it and you may find yourself subconsciously turning to substitutes that will never fulfill this need. Please, listen to the song of your soul. In a world often so busy and demanding, violent and horrible it can easily be drowned out. But it has something to tell you, and listening will set you free. I love you, especially for reading all this 😆 taken in City of Palms by @thejac
