Save this formula for the next time your client asks for a rich chestnut cinnamon brown ✨ (You know… cuz I don’t think anyone else is gonna use a meat stick as hair color inspo 😂)

Exact ratios are in the video.

For the cut, we went straight back to the ’90s. We took off about six inches because her hair was literally down to her butt and she was sick of fighting it in her sleep. We did graduated layers in the bottom half so it was still thick and defined before I connected it to 90-degree layers through the center and top.
After that I pulled everything forward for a shag-style shape, and used face framing to connect her full bangs into the length.

Basically, long, rounded ’90s layers with a thick perimeter and a shit ton of movement.

3 rows of extensions + a melt for this gorgeous babe ✨

I’m still trying to figure out what I want my signature finish to be now that I’m back behind the chair, but this was cuteeee ☺️ We round brushed her out and topped it off with a 2” iron for that big soft bend.

Also, no long educational caption today 😂 If you’re looking for an extension specialist in St. George who will quite literally make you her personal project while we figure out how to get your hair healthy AND give you the hair you want… book with me 🤷‍♀️

I have mad lore, but Instagram deleted years of my work… so you’re just gonna have to trust me bro 🤓 Long dimensional blonde hair with three rows of extensions, a blended root melt and a blowout. taken in St. George, Utah by @thejasminkhan

Still one of my favorite colors to date 😮‍💨✨ One row of extensions, a darker melt, and multiple extension colors customized to actually match what was happening in her natural hair.

I am allergic to grabbing “a pack” of one color and making it work 😂 Sometimes the prettiest blend comes from having multiple colors on hand and being really intentional about where each weft is placed. And sometimes the perfect extension color just… doesn’t exist. Tone the wefts, color them, mix shades, whatever you need to do to create the color you’re actually seeing in your client’s hair.

Alsooooo, little secret 🙊 When my clients want to go darker and they already have extensions, I usually don’t have them buy new hair if what they have is still good. I’ll color their natural hair AND their extensions so we don’t end up a couple weeks later with faded natural hair and extensions that are suddenly wayyyy too dark. We’ve all seen that shit 😂

And I was the one who did that install 👀👇

Here’s the part extension education skips over… sometimes you nail a new client’s install the first time. Other times you’re working through YEARS of damage, scalp issues, old habits, old placement and old color. That does NOT automatically mean the stylist before you was doing bad work. Sometimes there are just multiple problems layered together and it takes a few appointments to figure out what that specific head of hair needs.

With her, I noticed areas of her scalp had very little tissue glide, which meant the scalp wasn’t moving evenly and tension during beading could vary a lot from one area to another. So, I went with less width and depth, changed her corners, moved them farther from the hairline and staggered the wefts more to distribute weight.

Then I found out she had basically been ripping a brush through her extensions for years (despite being a hairstylist herself) 😂 so we fixed that too and went over anchoring the row while brushing instead of yanking on the attachment points. My beads don’t slip… so this was IMPORTANT.

The biggest contributor to her shedding though was her root color. She was having a pretty severe allergic reaction on her scalp. Inflammation can push hairs out of their normal growth cycle early, and when you combine that with poor scalp mobility and the extra mechanical load of extensions… yeah, not ideal. So we put her on a nightly scalp serum and supplements while we worked on getting her scalp healthier. And here is the kicker… I did my part, and my client did her part. Extensions are a partnership and it does take both of us to have a gorgeous grow out.

So no, her grow out did NOT look like this the first time. But part of being an extension specialist is getting to the point where clients like this aren’t scary… they’re actually a challenge to figure out.

Also, if you’ve made it this far… I volunteered as tribute to do her extensions 😂 Nobody else could figure out her rows and this shit is literally fun for me. I said “who has the hardest head to install in this salon” 🤣🙏

If you’ve ever had a client make you rethink your whole install, tell me what you changed 😂👇 by @thejasminkhan

Would you believe it if I told you the before is midway through her appointment? This was after a round of Malibu Disruptor followed by Malibu CPR on top.

I’m telling you that this is the safest way to remove color from the hair when doing a color correction… even if it takes awhile 😂

She was a solid 3 shades lighter than she was before we started the removal process.

We used permanent color in @kevin.murphy for her brown and @arete enlighten powder for her highlights.

Over-all. I can confidently say we killed it! taken in St. George, Utah by @thejasminkhan

Summer’s almost over, but here’s your reminder to not let pool and ocean days absolutely wreck those extensions. 😂

I’ve also seen a weird uptick in green hair with my clients’ kids lately, and this works AMAZING for them too.

Honestly, pretty much any leave-in + oil combo works. Just check with your stylist first to make sure what you’re using is good for your extensions!

Save this so you don’t forget, and share it with your babes who need the reminder 🤌 by @thejasminkhan
