As one of the 13 celebrities chosen by Oprah Winfrey to celebrate the month of Hispanic heritage I can’t denied how proud that makes me as a a Panamanian and get my country to be recognized by it. My story is inspiring and it starts during the 2008 financial crisis, when I found my true passion with the spiritual help of my grandmother Alicia. Since then, my work as an artist has earned me collaborations with luxury brands like BVLGARI, Fendi, and Roche-Bobois, as well as exhibitions in various cities around the world. — Javier Gómez learned early that a sensitive eye needs no passport. Panama gave him a deeply rooted identity; Costa Rica, the pulse of discipline; Milan, the certainty that design is inherited from books as much as from craft; Miami dissolved the line between art and interior design; New York, finally, demanded an authenticity with no room for compromise. Out of that accumulation — never a fracture, always a sediment — a language of his own was born: photography that reads architecture as a private conversation between stone and daylight, and that finds in sacred geometry the same secret order governing a seashell or an entire galaxy. That language found its first major validation in 2016, when he received the Rising Talent Award for the Americas at Maison & Objet in Paris — proof, in his own words, that a vision born in Panama could hold its own on design’s biggest stage. The recognition opened doors, but what it truly confirmed was a responsibility: to keep creating with coherence, discipline, and authenticity. For a man who has never claimed a single fixed address, home was never a place to return to — it became a way of seeing, portable enough to carry into any city, any room, any light. That conviction gave rise to JG Home Living, a project built on the idea that belonging is not about where you stand, but how coherently you inhabit it. He admires da Vinci, Brâncuși, and Barragán — not to resemble them, but for the tireless curiosity that carried them forward.
