Hi pals! I didn't get an interview done for July, so please enjoy this episode from the archive with sax giant Jimmy Heath. Listen at thejazzsession.com or whevever you get your podcasts. Here are the original show notes:

The Jazz Session celebrates its fifth anniversary with one of the giants of the music, saxophonist and composer Jimmy Heath. In this interview, Heath talks about his early days as a writer and arranger; his Queens neighborhood and its importance to jazz history; why he loves the sound of a big band; and how he keeps himself moving forward and growing at this stage in his career. He also shares a fax of a 1947 concert poster, received the morning of the interview, with some hilarious text.

Here's a wild artifact from my past that I came across today. The organist for the Atlanta Braves, @mkaminskimusic, is also a jazz musician. When I was on my Jazz Or Bust tour in 2012 I interviewed him and sat with him in the press box, where the organ is. So The Jazz Session got press credentials from the Atlanta Braves. Pretty dope.
