An open letter on your 50th birthday 📃

Today is what would (and should) have been your 50th birthday. I still remember the tireless ambition, the sharp mind, and equally sharp tongue, the giving heart, the grace and dignity that were ahead of your years,and the pride you had when you bragged about me even when I hadn't yet accomplished much of anything. I remember the way you pushed me to demand more from life and your disciplinarian approach to art, where drive and work ethic were always more important than talent. As scatterbrained and unfocused as I was I needed your pragmatic approach to creativity and to this day when I need a little boost of motivation I still hear your voice prodding me to finish whatever I started. Over the years I recognize that I took the discpline aspect of creativity to the extremes, to the point of isolation and neglecting personal relationships. But I'm working on it and every day I'm trying to find a better balance of productivity while being a better son, father, uncle, and brother. But yes I still laugh every time I remember the days when you "locked me in the house and said I couldn't come out until I wrote a song." But more importantly I understand why you told me that, and I know how to harness it in the right way, the healthy way, because that's the only was I can truly honor both you and our father. Happy 50th birthday sis, I love you and I miss you, so I wrote a song.

Another #daddydaughter game 1 in the books and we got the dub in Dublin!!! 🇮🇪🍀 A little rain didn't slow us down, all the Heels who made the trip had a great time, and so did the locals (check out my man in the Stafford jersey) 😅 Hopefully game 1 next year will he on the road again!!! ✈️
