2025 was interesting.😒😬 I cried A LOT. Like more than I have in quite a while. But I also got to see my family a lot, I cooked for my LIFE, got out and explored new places, I got a new job, and I got a new nephew! My 2025 ended very stressfully with a niece and nephew in the hospital, and the rest of them pretty sick too, as well as my parents… so I realize we are like 2 weeks into the new year, but this is the first time I’ve felt like I could stop and reflect (I may or may not have just taken all my Christmas decorations down the other day😅) 2025 wasn’t all bad, but I can’t say I’m sad to have seen it go. At 12:20am on November 1, 2019, my granny, Julia Evelyn Gibson Chambers, waved goodbye and slipped the surly bonds of earth. She is not suffering, struggling, or forgetting anymore. And for that we are thankful. But in my heart I’m still that little girl she called “Maggie.” And suddenly it’s 1987 and I’m riding in her grocery cart pulling stuff off the shelf and putting it in while she’s not looking. And I’m walking through Village Fair Mall listening to her and the rest of the “Gibson girls” argue over who was paying for lunch. Then I’m holding her hands in her living room playing London Bridge is falling down, her crystal chandelier sparkling over my head- her nails are painted Dusty Rose...and then I’m laying under her piano bench watching her feet push the pedals while she plays and sings... and she’s in the kitchen showing me how to make homemade biscuits, her mouth in the shape of an O when they burned a little, and she’s sweeping out the oven because the beans overflowed, and she’s made a lemon cake and coffee, and I’m playing in her makeup again, and she’s laughing while we play poker at 3am for Cheetos... so at 1:30am on November 1, 2019-standing in my own kitchen- I made a pot of coffee for me and her. I closed my eyes and thanked her. For everything. by @thejenfluence

This is my mommy. I’m telling you, you’ll never have a better friend, cheerleader, or confidant. She’s just a fantastic girl with spunk and pizazz, and I’d like to think that’s where I get mine from.
