Because of my family history, dense breasts and other factors, I meet annually with a high-risk breast cancer advocate. Each year we look at my risk, talk through ways to mitigate it, do an exam, review my imaging and make a plan.

Last year at this time, my estimated risk of developing breast cancer in the next 10 years was around 26%.
Today, it’s 19%.
SEVEN percentage points lower. 🥹

What changed?
My BMI.

I had hovered around a BMI of 30 for years. Today, I’m at 24 after losing 38 pounds over the past 11 months.

I’ve been very transparent about my weight loss. I started a G L 🫛-1 because I was tired of feeling the way I was feeling. And what happened in the process was so much more than seeing the number on the scale go down.

My sleep, energy, and inflammation- all improved. I started feeling like myself again.

All reasons I’ve never viewed this journey as simply about a number or being skinny.

And today, sitting in the same office one year later, I got another reminder that one of the measurable factors in my breast cancer risk had changed too.

My advocate encouraged me to keep doing what I’m doing because of the improvements I’ve experienced and because maintaining a healthy BMI is one of the things within my control when it comes to reducing my overall risk.

And today was another reminder that, for ME, this was the right decision.

Breast cancer has infiltrated way too many of my family members and friends, and I hold their stories close. I know a lower risk score doesn’t mean zero risk, and I will continue doing the screenings and monitoring I’ve done for years.

But today, I’m celebrating a small health victory of my own. 💗

Not because I’m chasing a smaller body.

Because I’m building a healthier one.💪 taken in Northwestern Medicine Cancer Center by @thejenmurray

If I have done anything right as a parent, it’s making sure my boys know who the GOAT of country music is. 💁🏼‍♀️ Garth has been soundtrack of Monica and my life and so, of course, she had to fly in for this milestone concert.

So much joy, but also some tears…The Dance hit harder than usual this time. 💙.

“And now, I’m glad I didn’t know
The way it all would end, the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could’ve missed the pain
But I’d had to miss the dance” taken in Allstate Arena by @thejenmurray

Maybe the kids going back to school is your sign to come back to YOU!?

We love summer!  Late nights. Different schedules. More meals out. Less routine. And somewhere along the way, taking care of yourself can slide pretty far down the list. 🙋‍♀️

But here’s the thing…
You don’t need to wait for January.
You don’t need a Monday.
And you definitely don’t need to “get your life together” before you start.
You just need to decide that you matter, too.

If you’ve been thinking about getting your energy back, feeling better in your body, getting stronger, losing some of the weight that has been stubbornly hanging around, or simply creating healthier habits again…

How about now?

And if you’ve been wondering about G L P-1s, p3ptides, supplements, protein, or just where the heck to start…

You don’t have to have it all figured out, but a conversation can help.  Drop the word RESET and let’s chat about what your next step could look like. ❤️

I’m a mom too, I get it, and this is your permission slip to put yourself back on the list.📝

Summer went by way too fast. But these boys were ready this morning to start 10th, 8th and 6th. (Heavy emphasis on THIS morning-tomorrow will probably be slower moving!)

Gosh, I love watching my boys grow and change-but what I wouldn’t give for time to just slow down a bit.

I’m celebrating only 2 start times instead of 3 and all the boys out the door by 7:17 instead of almost 9am!

Praying for a safe, healthy and successful school year for everyone! by @thejenmurray

A year ago, I was at my wits end with my back pain. I thought about pain constantly. I visited my beloved chiropractor regularly and sought the help of a pain management specialist-which sadly didn’t help. Recently, I was prescribed B PC 157, a peptide specializing in healing and repair. I was prescribed thru Ellie MD (where I’m an affiliate-full transparency). My back pain, and hip pain and shoulder pain have reduced significantly and I’m no longer reaching for Advil daily. And for a busy boy mom, moving pain free is EVERYTHING.

This is my unique experience and I’m not a doctor and this isn’t medical advice, I am sharing because of some timely news happening yesterday. An FDA advisory committee just voted this week to recommend these peptides be added to the approved compounding list. It’s not final approval yet, and it doesn’t mean they’re right for everyone, but it’s a sign this space is being taken more seriously.

If you’ve ever wondered whether there’s something other than pain meds worth exploring for stuff like this, take this quick quiz to see what might fit. 🫶🏼👇🏼 by @thejenmurray

Eight months ago, I made one of the best investments I’ve ever made in my health.

Today, I made another.

I finally had a DEXA scan.

I’ve been talking about getting one for months, and honestly...I’m kicking myself for not doing it before I started my p3ptide journey. Having that baseline would have been incredible.

If you’re not familiar, a DEXA scan doesn’t just tell you your weight. It measures your body composition-how much of your body is fat, how much is lean muscle, and even your bone density.

Seeing the results today was fascinating. It confirmed that the habits I’ve been building are working...and it also showed me where I still have room to improve. That’s the beauty of data-it isn’t about perfection, it’s about making informed decisions.

This is also an important reminder that G L P-1 medications are exactly that-a tool and never a replacement for healthy habits.

Slimming down is great, but what excites me even more is knowing I’m building a healthier body from the inside out.

My advice? If you’re also on a G L P-1 journey, don’t just chase a lower number on the scale. Protect your muscle. Lift the weights. Eat the protein. Celebrate the non-scale victories.

Because this isn’t about getting smaller, becoming stronger and living younger longer.

Have you ever had a DEXA scan? I’d love to hear what you learned. by @thejenmurray
