"You can't forgive without loving. And I don't mean sentimentality. I don't mean mush. I mean having enough courage to stand up and say, 'I forgive. I'm finished with it'."
Maya Angelou

I laid my mother to rest last week and for years I couldn't find a way to forgive her for leaving me. Circumstances.. Life Choices... disrupted our bond early before it could be cemented.

But then I became a woman and a mother. Today I know that I too haven't always made the best decisions. Today I know that pain and rejection can cripple a person. Today I also know that God heals, forgives, and restores. After all He is JehovahRapha.

I'm grateful that I was able to forgive my mother and that she was able to receive it. I'm thankful that I could pray with her and give her some of the peace she needed. I'm humbled that she trusted me enough to tell me that she was tired and I was strong enough to tell her that it was ok to rest. I miss her, I always have, and her transition from this world only heightens thoughts of what could have been. I wish I could have known her better, but I'll never stop loving her all the same. I'll be the mother and grandmother I know she wanted to be. I'll trade the trauma for triumph. God will get the glory from my chapter of her story and I hope to see her on the other side...

Who do you need to forgive today?

Our Young Prince is 23 today and this is one of my favorite photos of him! It's a few years old but I love how his sister captured the flickers of the beautiful curly head little boy who used to never leave my side while also showing the many glimpses of the great and godly man he is steady evolving into. He is prophecy fulfilled, the other half of my maternal heart. Happy Birthday Elijah! Your momma loves you so! #alwaysUS 🤞🏾💙 by @thejentastic1
