Back at it after a month to recover from a back strain. Had to suck it up for the first ever workout for my mini!! Proud papa moment for me. Had to get my coach flex on and memorialize the moment. All while channeling my inner @therock.

The world has lost a truly wonderful man. With all that has happened to my family the past 12 months it took me a few days to really gather my thoughts and process this loss. When Amber and I first met we both said that our worst fear were the losses of my mother and her father Charles. To have both losses take place nine months and a day apart is truly heartbreaking. With its divisive nature I only discuss my faith with a limited number of people, but I do know that heaven gained another angel this week. Charles you will be so missed and we all love you more than you may have ever known. I will do my very best to take care of your girls the way you did. Rest In peace my friend, you will be missed but never forgotten. by @thejgk

Thank you all for the overwhelming outpouring of love for our mother. Today we laid her to rest and I have been contemplating things and how I will get through this difficult time. As I look at all of the likes and read all of the comments it reminds me of the magic that was Mary Jane Kelly. Her gift was helping people. Not just in achieving their goals in life and career but more so in helping people believe in themselves. Whether it was helping various political candidates achieve office, judgeships, or appointments. Helping people believe they could start a business, get an otherwise unimaginable contract, or just survive the daily grind and minutia of their lives. Or later in life bonding someone out of jail and spending time with the person and counseling them to the fact that we all have missteps and our story is never set in stone as there is always hope and the prospect of being better.

For me she was so much more. She was first and foremost a mother and protector. Later she became a teacher, mentor, business partner, and most importantly my best friend. I don’t like to talk about it very much but growing up I was very shy and timid. I was honestly scared of a lot of things and she would constantly say to me what is the worst that could happen, “they can’t eat you.” As I grew and aged I became bigger and stronger and those things slowly subsided, but many times those feelings would come back and she would tell me how I was stronger than I even knew and I just had to believe in myself. Those lessons have carried with me forever because to this day I still have that scared little boy deep inside, but now when he tries to come out I hear her voice and I know who and what she helped me become. I now know that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to if I just try my best and work hard until I achieve it. That was her magic and that is what I will miss the most.

I know it will be difficult, but I know she is with us and all of us who crossed her path are blessed and better for having the opportunity to have her in our lives. I will solider on and keep pushing my limits because that is what she loved about me and the man she helped me become. by @thejgk
