There were times I questioned God in the midst of my exhaustion, uncertainty, and overwhelmed state of mind, yet He continued to carry me through it all. Looking back, I see His hand in every setback, victory, and moment that shaped me into who I am today. Texas Southern University gave me memories and milestones Iโ€™ll cherish forever, but more than anything, this journey strengthened my faith, resilience, and trust in Godโ€™s plan. ๐Ž๐ง ๐Œ๐š๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ—, ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”, ๐ฆ๐ฒ ๐ฅ๐ข๐Ÿ๐ž ๐œ๐ก๐š๐ง๐ ๐ž๐ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธโœจโ€ฆ In just two years, I went from stepping into Army ROTC with a dream and uncertaintyโ€ฆ to commissioning as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. Along the way came Basic Camp, Advanced Camp, multiple FTX trainings, countless early morning PT sessions, leadership responsibilities, sleepless nights, academics, track, injuries, setbacks, sacrifices, and moments where I truly had to dig deep and grow into the woman standing here today. Earning my B.A. in Psychology from Texas Southern University while commissioning as an Army Officer is something I will never take lightly. Less than 1% of the U.S. population chooses to serve in the Armed Forces, and the number becomes even smaller when looking at Black women who pursue this path and step into positions of leadership. That reality makes this moment even more meaningful to me. I am proud to be a part of that less than 1% โ€” proud to serve, proud to lead, and proud to represent something greater than myself. This journey elevated me mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and professionally. ROTC didnโ€™t just teach me how to lead othersโ€ฆ it transformed me. Through every field exercise, every challenge, every correction, every mile, and every difficult season, I learned discipline, resilience, confidence, and faith. There were moments I felt exhausted, stretched thin, and uncertain of myself, but God carried me through every single one of them. Today, I stand here not as the same girl who started this journey, but as a commissioned officer, a college graduate, and a woman walking boldly into her purpose. From cadet to ๐’๐ž๐œ๐จ๐ง๐ ๐‹๐ข๐ž๐ฎ๐ญ๐ž๐ง๐š๐ง๐ญโ€ฆ from surviving to ๐›๐ž๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐ . Looking at the freshman version of me compared to now, I realize just how much God has grown me through this journey.
