2026 Race for the Roses 152nd Kentucky Derby Back in 2024 I went to 150th Kentucky Derby and I set up a Hat shop alongside Hats by Parker Thomas at Number 15 and we were selling Hats until like 1 AM on Friday night so we decided to keep our stuff locked up there and come pick it up on Saturday morning So as I was getting my stuff put back together, I decided I would stay and try to sell a few remaining that I had and that is when Sunshine came down to grab an Instacart order! I knew Wynonna Judd @wynonnajudd was staying upstairs in the loft, but it was a big secret so when Sunshine came down, I said hey does anybody upstairs still need a hat? And she said well maybe I do. I have this hat, but I’m not super excited about it -this hat that you have kind of looks like it would match, but it’s a little bit off so I asked to see a picture of her dress and I said I could turn it around in an hour So I added a few elements to my hat that would make it match her dress perfectly! An hour later- she walked out right next to Wynonna Judd -got in the car and then I headed to the Kentucky Derby where I saw her sing the national anthem! The next day, I was boarding my flight when I saw Sunshine post photos wearing my hat next to Wynonna Judd, Travis Kelce, Emmitt Smith, Joey Fatone, and so many other people! She even posted a photo of her wearing it next to me! And it’s moments like this that make me so excited to make hats for everyone! every hat holds such a story! I am already having so much fun making hats for you all this year and I cannot wait to see what happens in the next 9 days! It truly is a race for the roses! And it certainly is the most exciting two minutes in sports! As a Hat designer the Denver Derby and Kentucky Derby are a lot of work and long long hours… But seeing you all post photos wearing them and collecting all the memories and stories makes every long day worth it! Thank you for shopping with me and I look forward to selling the rest of the Hats . I have this year! My goal is to sell out! Let’s make it happen! Dream Big-work hard- @emmittsmith22 @killatrav @ellajameshattery @phunshine @denverderby by @thejoyfulblonde
“I'm a survivor (Reba McEntire).” “A single mom who works two jobs Who loves her kids and never stops With gentle hands and a heart of a fighter I'm a survivor (RM).” I had the opportunity to make a hat for Reba alongside @hatsbyparkerthomas @taylortoldya @brushcreekranch I also have the opportunity to be Ella’s mom. Every day I work it’s to provide a life for her! And to make my dreams come true too! It’s hard being a single mom …but I get to be her mom!!! At this point I’m choosing to be single while I build my business and raise a healthy happy child. And sometimes I get to meet amazing people and be a part of amazing events! Every day is new and a blessing. Thank you to everyone who have given me the opportunity to make your hat, do your hair, and your makeup. I am so thankful for it all!! I will never give up even when things are hard- bc im a survivor and have a heart of a fighter!!! #survivor #imasurvivor #gentle #reba #thankful #hats #custom #workhard #ilovemyjob #heartofafighter Fur- @atsagasfurandleatherdesigns Hat- @hatsbyparkerthomas Hatband - @ellajameshattery by @thejoyfulblonde
It’s TOO EASY!!! 🤠✨ I’ve had these bandanas sitting around for months with a vision of turning them into one-of-a-kind hatbands with horsebit details! Well, I finally made my first one today, and now the creative wheels are spinning! A few little tweaks to perfect the design, and I think I’m onto something pretty cool! These beauties will be available for purchase SOON! 🤎 And can I just say… it feels SO good to be creating again! Sometimes all it takes is one little project to get that spark back! 🔥 Lots of fun events coming soon! Stay posted! by @thejoyfulblonde
How do dreams come true? One hat at a time! 🎩🩷 Thank you, Adam, for trusting me to make the perfect sidekick to your PINK BEARD! I was so happy to hear from you! @dkmcf_1 Every October, Adam colors his beard pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and to help raise awareness through the Doreen Katz Memorial Cancer Foundation, created in memory of his wife. “Helping children of cancer patients” is at the heart of his mission. 🩷 For this hat, Adam had such a fun idea: a black hat with a snakeskin hatband that I painted PINK. We designed it so the band can be switched out for different colors to represent all of the causes he supports. And I think it’s safe to say… we are both pretty happy with how it turned out! 🙏 It was obviously VERY fun to make. Adam will be wearing it to the @hunkapiprograms Gala on October 24th in Arizona, and I’m officially casting my vote now for BEST DRESSED! 🏆 One of my favorite parts of this story is that Adam and I met during COVID, and he has supported me through so many chapters—from my mask-making days, to my haircutting business, to my hat business. He’s even given me a few Kentucky Derby tips along the way! 🐎 Adam, thank you for continuing to support my dreams while doing so much to support others. I cannot WAIT to see you wear this hat—and to create the next ones! Here’s to dreams, good causes, great hats, and one unforgettable pink beard. 🩷🎩 Hopefully I’ll see you soon at one of these fun events! #EllaJamesHattery #BreastCancerAwareness #PinkOctober #CustomHats #HatMaker by @thejoyfulblonde

“Find out who you are and do it on purpose (Dolly Parton).” Celebrating the 1st week back to school under the Friday Night Lights! And we made it on the Jumbotron (all Ella wanted for me to make happen and she somehow thinks I did). So much fun spending time with my girl and teaching her my favorite game and my favorite team! So thankful for it all!!! Ella kept telling me to stop dancing in my seat or cheering so loud and I said- “Darlin’ I’m a Broncos fan and doing this is one of my favorite things to do”-so she joined in and danced and cheered as well! @djsquizzytaylor you now have a new 11 year old fan! Oh and if y’all want a one of a kind Broncos hat or to host a hat party for your corporate event dm me or email ellajameshattery@gmail.com Go Broncos! @broncos Thank you for the tickets! “Every hat tells a story. Make yours with a little thunder in it!” Painted, burnt, shaped, and accessorized for the AC/DC concert for the one and only @susiewargin! All of my hats are one of a kind and tell a story for the person wearing them. I am realizing that some of them take a lot longer than I had thought-especially when I start from scratch. But I love making these and I love seeing you all wear them! DM me or text me to get yours started! And if you are waiting for your creation to be done… I promise it will be done in a few days! I love nothing more than to make your hat dreams come true! This one was very fun to make and anytime I can use paint and fire-I am a happy girl! Thank you @susiewargin -I hope you have a blast at the concert! @acdc -Can’t wait to be in the stadium soon watching our Broncos! @broncos @empowerfieldatmilehigh @davidyurman @thefortrestaurant by @thejoyfulblonde

“Anytime you do something from the heart, people just know it (Brad Paisley).” Its hard to beat waking up this morning (this summer) to a text from Susie to see if I could make her a hat today for the PBR Bulls and Beats happening at Compass Stadium this weekend! I love when my hair clients become hat customers! It brings so much joy to my heart! 💚 💛 Go see these amazing artists at CSU this weekend! @bradpaisley bradpaisley @mirandalambert @pbr We used gold lace, green raw silk and a beaded hatband in a 100% fine palm hat! I forgot to take a picture of it up close! 🙃 I don’t think I have ever seen her in a cowboy hat- but I think she should wear one all the time! Looks amazing with her curls! Maybe we switch out the hatband soon-to orange -just in time for @broncos season! Thank you @susiewargin -have a blast this weekend! Visit me @thestorybrick for a custom @ellajameshattery hat-we can make all your hat dreams come true!
