I’ve decided to really s l o w
down this week…

Our 30s seems the busiest time yet, with some friends getting married, some getting promotions, some are leaving relationships or buying first houses.

It’s easy to feel the weight of everything all at once but (as I’ve been reminded!) choosing to be where our feet are and applying gratitude even to the smallest moments is the smoothest route to soak up everyday JOY when life feels like it’s all moving too fast 💛✨

I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t actually want a Nancy Meyers house…

I just want a Nancy Meyers life. 🍋🤍

✨Windows thrown open all day
✨Revisiting an old family recipe book
✨Fresh flowers on the kitchen table just because.
✨Chilled bottles of red waiting for guests to pop round

I’ve been saving so many interiors lately, and it suddenly clicked that they’re all giving the same feeling. Warm and somewhere people want to linger in

One of my favourite creative days out in London✨

@newdesigners is a celebration of the next generation of creatives, spanning fashion, furniture, ceramics, textiles & illustration.

In my role, it’s definitely one of my favourite places to discover new talent. There was so much to soak up; ready-made picture books, brilliant visual storytelling and more than one future stars (shout-out to the @marksandspencer Spotlight Award winners ✨👑)

With over 2,500 graduates showcasing their work, you could happily spend hours exploring!

If you love beautiful things and discovering the best in art & design, make sure you sign up to alerts in Spring 🌼

Tickets usually go on sale in spring, and I promise it’s worth the visit! 💌

There was a time when moving to London felt like the biggest mistake I’d ever made… 💕

I’d grown up in a tiny village, so suddenly being surrounded by millions of people, busy streets and constant noise felt SO overwhelming.

I kept waiting for the day it would all just… click.

The funny thing is, it never really did.
Instead, I started collecting little familiarities.

🪩A bookshop I’d always wander into.
✨A cafe I’d happily spend an afternoon in.
🪩A walk through the park that made a busy day feel quieter.

None of them changed London overnight.

BUTTT together, they slowly changed how London felt to me. 🌿

You don’t have to fall in love with the whole place… you just need to find a few little reasons to come back.

And before you know it, those little reasons become your life. ✨

If you’re starting over somewhere new, I hope this reminds you to look for the tiny things. (They’re often the ones that end up meaning the most!!)

J u l y 🍊

Genuinely, one of the loveliest parts of my job as a children’s illustration agent is seeing all of the beautiful books arrive on our shelves every month.

From museum adventures & magical mushrooms, to stories about family, friendship and growing up, July is set to be particularly rosy for picture books. 🌸

My favourites this time have to be Fritz, The Teacup (adored Chris Naylor-Ballesteros’ books for years) and The Heart on Your Hand, but narrowing it down is impossibly tricky.

Secrets to a softer life 💛

I’ve been thinking about this one lately!

I realised that a soft life rarely arrives in one fell swoop… it’s caught in the in-between moments and tiny rituals, like:

✨Walking the scenic route.
💌Carrying a book.
💿 Listening to an album all the way through.
🍓Celebrating tiny wins.
🌷Going somewhere beautiful for no reason at all.

None of them are life-changing on their own, but collectively made my days feel softer.

Shania Twain was my 1st ever album in 1999, so seeing her live alone was b e y o n d exciting… met the loveliest souls, and danced my lil heart out with such genuine joy… and I think I left a Harry super fan?

Let’s talk ✨gallery memberships✨

One of the joys of this city is its abundance of choice when it comes to an artsy day out.

This is taken a step further now as the hot spots are actually allowing us to become a ‘regular’ somewhere (aka romanticising our lives even more)

Whether that’s wandering around a favourite gallery, popping into an exhibition after work or treating yourself to coffee (& a huuuge slice of cake!) in a museum caf, becoming a member at these places reminds us that the exhibitions we love don’t need to be spared for a special occasion.

Just a few things that feel especially good right now. 💐

This season always reminds me that joy rarely arrives through big moments, it’s the flowers you picked up from a friendly market seller, taking yourself on a solo date to the museum or carving out time to spend with the people who bring the most glimmers ✨

(Oh and adding strawberries to EVERY drink, dessert & salad going!! 🍓)

The little things have a way of becoming the things we remember most.

As June draws to a close, I hope you have space for just one thing that fills your cup.
