I created @thejuststartproject because I know what it feels like to not believe in yourself at all.

I was raised in an environment where I wasn’t always made to feel confident in myself, and over time, I started to carry that doubt on my own. I questioned everything I did. I didn’t trust myself… so I stayed small. I held back. I convinced myself it was safer not to try than to try and fail.

There was always a quiet feeling that there had to be more for me. Even if I had no clue how to get there.

I realized no one was coming to hand me confidence. If I wanted a different life, I had to start showing up for it (even if I felt completely unready.)

That didn’t change everything overnight. However, it did change something in me. That something turned into action. That action slowly turned into belief.

Just Start came from that place. The uncertain, messy, “I have no idea what I’m doing, but I’m going to try” place.

I’m competing for the younger version of me who didn’t feel confident. That girl who didn’t feel enough and didn’t believe she could become this version of herself.

I’m also competing for anyone who knows that feeling too. I’m sure everyone has.

I want to remind you that you don’t need to have it all figured out. I definitely don’t. I am always learning, growing, forgiving, failing, trying… and that’s the beauty of life. You don’t need to feel ready. You don’t even need to believe in yourself yet.

You just have to start.

Belief doesn’t come first. It comes after you decide to try. Ready is not a feeling, it’s a decision 🤍 #JustStart by @thejuststartproject

I’ve loved speaking with different sororities and talking through one of the exercises my mindset coach taught me! I’m really grateful to the girls for being such good sports and for showing up with openness and vulnerability (even when it’s hard!) 🤍 Love y’all so! You don’t need to change everything overnight. You just need to do one small thing…. and then do it again tomorrow! That’s why I love the 5 Second Rule by @melrobbins

It doesn’t discriminate and it’s easy! Everyone can do it. Whether you are looking to run a marathon or simply trying to get the dishes done.

We talk a lot about confidence and being role models as women in the pageant space. What that really means is living in a way that’s honest. Whether we realize it or not, there are always younger girls watching. Watching how we speak about ourselves, how we carry ourselves, and how we treat others.

Becoming a role model starts in your everyday choices (crown or no crown!)

We all present polished versions of ourselves in some form, that’s a part of life and social media haha. But the most beautiful, classic, lasting kind of confidence doesn’t come from perfection… It comes from self-acceptance and trust in YOU.

That’s the best makeup and facetune filter anyone could ever wear!!!

That’s what people connect with. That’s what younger ladies see and what gives them permission to feel enough as they are.

@thejuststartproject is about confidence and starting from a place of truth, NOT perfection.

CONFIDENCE. It’s a nice place to be. You are enough! 💫🤍

Yesterday I had the honor of speaking at @astateaoii and sharing not just my story, but my heart. We talked about fear and how it shows up in our lives. We talked about how courage isn’t the absence of fear, it’s moving forward in spite of it.

Through my platform, Just Start, we worked through an exercise on unlearning the criticisms we place on ourselves. I am so grateful to the incredible women of AOII for being so open, so brave, and willing to share their stories with me.
