Can this moment
not be absolutely innocent?

Annoying airplane overhead,
deflated old beach balls
lumped in the corner of the backyard,
a dirty bottle of bug spray,
the little outdoor fan
left lying in the yard.

Who’s to say
it’s not?

This moment,
right now.

And if it is not guilty
of some existential heinous crime
worthy of never-ending torture—

if it is love
in its fullest expression—

where can it ever go?

Where can it ever
not be?

I have never found
the borders of love.

Who can lock it away
from all that is
and all that isn’t?

the waiting
is the weight.
💙 by @thekatehiggins

a flower peeks around the corner
playing peekaboo

the clouds look like
your mother’s fancy china plates
both so high up
and out of reach

and birdsong,
those erratic little beeps
appearing out of nowhere
and vanishing
almost as soon as they arrive

why do we walk
with so much shame? by @thekatehiggins

The rain does not lose itself.
The earth does not become more itself.
There is only the falling
and the receiving,
which are not two.

All the praise in the world
may pour down upon you
like endless weather,
but there is no one here to soak it up,
no one to be filled,
no one to be made whole.

What is already whole
cannot become more whole,
nor less.

There is only
the simple miracle
of what is……

touching itself. by @thekatehiggins
