With less under 24hrs to prepare for @dybrkr festival little kheeda looked at me in the mirror with tears in my eyes and said. “Fear does not exist in the realm of fun. Now smile and go have fun”🥹🥹🥹🥹 I was so terrified yet so courageous. “Do you know how long of a fall this is?” My logical mind asked 🤣🤣🤣😭😭
Innerchild: “hush woman. Smile wave and let me have fun. I want this.” 🤩🤩🤩

As a child growing up in Trinidad 🇹🇹 watching Moko Jumbies galavanting through the streets during carnival season. Looking ever so graceful in the sky in lively vivid colors that screams celebration. Some places leave your body but never your spirit. Bedstuy thought me that. I've lived on Lexington, Madison St, Fulton. Shiiit, I'll even count Clinton St. on the border.
Walking around my old neighborhood of years, it's so different now. It feels like a skeleton of the life that gave to this community its heartbeat. The black owned businesses and black family homes are what made bedstuy what it is.
Grieving things that once were.
I am my foundations pride. 🫰🏿✨️
And a piece of Lovers Rock, just like Bed-Stuy, lives on in all of us who poured out these doors tipsy, laughing, dressed up, high off life, music, and good vibrations 🌃✨️
