@platform.pantry is the newest restaurant to hit the streets of Blackburn and it’s SO convenient being located right across the road from the train station! 🚉 You may have known this place as Enriks back in the day, with a much needed face lift @platform.pantry have really started things off with a bang! They pride themselves on everything being homemade 😍 What we ordered: 🥇 Chicken Bites $20 - the gochujang sauce with the smashed avocado, corn salsa and Siracha mayo was an excellent combination! Highly recommend! 🐟 Grilled Salmon $33 - was cooked really well, loved the dill butter sauce and all the roast veggies! 🍝 Gnocchi $28 - in a tomato pesto sauce, with pumpkin, baby spinach, peas, pine nuts, and Parmesan toasted crumbs. The sauce was delicious and full of flavour. I would have liked the gnocchi to melt in the mouth more. 🍨 Sticky Date Pudding $18 - lovely pudding, love the add on of the caramel popcorn and the biscuit crumb. When on the hunt for sweet treats I’m choosing @sanchurro_au 🤤 I visited their Greensborough location but they are all over Melbourne! ☕️Hazelnut Hot chocolate $8.95 - absolutely delicious! A great twist on the classic 🍓Churro pops & fruit for two $26.95 - my favourite! It’s feels pretty rare to find good dumplings up in the north but @dondondumpling really surprised and especially their dumplings! What we ordered: 🥇6 x Pork dumpings and 6 x Beef and lamb dumplings both fried $14.8 - a solid price and really delicious dumplings, generous with the filling, great flavours and extra yummy dipped in their dumpling sauce! 🥇 Sweet and sour chicken $16.8 - loved how crunchy the chicken was but also that the chicken was good quality! Would have loved more sauce but otherwise a beautiful dish and very generous portion! We added a large rice for $2 as well. 🍜 Shanghai fried noodles chicken $14.8 - super big serve, great mix of veggies but could have used a bit more flavour in the sauce 🥟 Xiao long bao $8.8 - classic, I love the classic soup flavour inside 🐖 Bbq pork buns $8.8 - actually SO good! @bobsyourunclecafe - Doncaster East! What’s a beautiful cafe tucked away in Jackson Court, Doncaster East. This menu offers the classic but also some unique dishes you wouldn’t find at your standard cafe. What we ordered: 🥇 Steak Sanga $29 - absolute star dish, beautiful pieces of steak with a tasty chimichurri and crunchy chips on the side 🐑 Massaman Lamb Shank $34 - super tender, falling off the bone. I will always be obsessed with American BBQ! Melbourne has really been lifting its game in this category and I’m all for it. @bluestone_american_bbq in Coburg is EXCEPTIONAL! I was blown away by the quality of their meat. Their staff were beyond amazing, very attentive and knowledgeable. Plus they have AWESOME deals throughout the week including a mid week all night happy hour with $10 cocktails on Wednesday and Thursdays 5pm to 9pm. You can also turn any cocktail into a mocktail for those who aren’t big drinkers like myself 💁‍♀️ our favourite cocktail had to be their apple pie with @oldforester bourbon, poached apple, lemon, brown sugar and cinnamon around the rim 🤤 We were spoilt with their Feast 3 option which is $63.80pp and includes: 🐷 Crispy Pork Belly 🥇 Pork Spare Ribs - my favourite for the night! 🥇 Taquitos - loved the texture and flavour! My first time trying taquitos and I’m obsessed. 🥩 Angus Beef Brisket - a tad bit dry but had a beautiful seasoning added on top 🥇 Cuban Pork - soooo tender and delicious! 🍗 Smoked Chicken Chops 🥇 Pork and Chessar sausage - beautiful flavour and perfectly cooked 🥇 BBQ chicken wings - could eat 100 of these! We got to try all three flavours (garlic Parmesan, BBQ blue cheese, maple habanero) can’t pick a favourite, loved them all! PLUS sides including tangy creole slaw, fire roasted red peppers, stone ground grits, Mac and cheese bites, Mexican street corn and delicious French fries! The Autumn UGO burrata bar menu is here and it’s worth the visit! Located at the @southmelbournemarket it’s a fun day trip where you can enjoy delicious burrata and then go explore so many great little shops in the market. What we tried: 🥩 Cannella $26 - Beef Ribs, Cinnamon, Chestnut and 125g burrata 🥔 Kipfler $20 - Potatoes, Pancetta, Black Garlic and 125g burrata 🥇 Melo $15 - Apple pie, Cinnamon, Custard and 60g burrata - this was the STAR of the menu! I love that @ugo_burrata_bar change their menu EVERY 3 months with the seasons. It means they get to be super creative and come up with epic combinations like this apple pie with their beautiful fresh, creamy burrata and covered in a delicious custard. This beautiful little church building is circa 1890 and now is the best cafe in the area voted by the community in 2021! They still have the original floors, stain glass windows and cathedral ceiling. As we head into winter they light their gorgeous fireplace, which was added in the 70’s! This building has true historic charm and such a special feel to it. The church offers a cozy and inviting seating area, staff describe it like a big warm hug and I couldn’t agree more! They have an amazing play room for kids to explore and family to relax in. This cafe honestly has it all, you can really feel a sense of community and love as you walk through the doors.
