April was a fantastic reading month for me! I finally completed the Loom Saga by Elise Kova and I also started The War of Lost Hearts series, both of which have been on my TBR for ages now!

I also read one classic and one non-fiction book, so I'm feeling very pleased with myself 😆

QOTD: What was your favorite read in Apirl?

Hi bookworms! Today I was thinking about what books I've read that I don't really see talked about much on Instagram. Disclaimer though, my feed might be different than yours, so maybe you've seen these around more often 😆

I hope there was at least new one book you haven't seen before on this list ☺️

My attempt at sharing my current read and Wesley 😅 He was not being the most cooperative today, trying to deface a signed book at that 😆

Do you have any tips for photos with your cats? Sometimes I catch him at the right moment, but often he has so much energy we are constantly playing together ☺️

Review 🌹

Daughter of No Worlds completely blew me away! I had high expectations going in since I love the Crowns of Nyxia series so much, but wow, this was even better than I was anticipating!

We follow Tisaanah, a young woman who was enslaved at an early age, who finally escapes and travels to another country to join a magical order. From there, Tisaanah begins to train with a mysterious outcast named Max who seems to have some unresolved history with the order.

There was so much I loved about this book! The magic system was fresh and entertaining to learn about, the world was rich with politics, and the writing style was extremely easy to understand and fly through! Everything just flowed so well. Finally, I really appreciated the time they took to slowly develop the romance. If you enjoy friends to lovers, I think this would be a great one to check out! The development of their relationship felt patient and well thought out.

Carissa does such an amazing job of writing characters who are so resilient despite the tragedies of their past. Her female characters are some of my favorites due to how strong and inspiring they are in a world that has always been against them every step of the way. Highly reccomend picking this up if you enjoy romantasy!

A few books that remind me of Shadow and Bone ➡️

Do you have any other books that feel similar?

Jumping on another bookstagram trend I've been loving recently. Can someone please hold me accountable to finish my series I'm in the middle of in a timely fashion 🙃

What series should I prioritize starting??

Doing a little spring cleaning! Decided that these four books could use a new home 🏡

Have you read any of these? Let me know if I should reconsider! Although to be honest, I don't think I will be swayed for King of Scars. I'm not usually a big fan of author's returning to an old series to add more books. I felt the same way with the VE Schwab Shade's of Magic continuation. I was very satisfied with the ending of book three, so I don't see myself picking up the additional trilogy she wrote later on. Idk why I'm like this 😆

This year I've been focusing on being more intentional with the books I purchase. I've been grabbing books I'm interested in while I browse and then at the end, I sat down in a less busy section and chose the two I was most excited for. My focus word for 2026 is "discipline" and while that is mainly focused on health and wellness goals, I've found it has been helping my intentionality when it comes to shopping as well.

I am very excited to check out A Song of Legends Lost thanks to reading a review about it on booksta, and I'm also looking forward to The Princess Knight, which I have not really heard much about!

Have you bought any books recently?

I am currently 50% into Daughter of No Worlds and it's shaping up to be a 5 star read! I absolutely loved Serpent and the Wings of Night, so I've been saving Carissa's other series for a special time :)

I am so happy to be back in another one of Carissa's worlds. She puts so much thought into the gods, magic system, character growth, and world politics! Her characters have gone through so much and are always so inspiring with their courage and strength. Super excited to finish this one soon!

I recently re-read Northanger Abbey and I had such a great time! We follow Catherine, a young woman who has never left her small town until the start of the novel. From there, she spends some time in Bath and as the reader, we quickly start to realize how ill-prepared she is for society and social interactions.

I think I enjoyed this more the second time around now that I knew what to expect! Catherine is quite oblivious to others around her and their motives, so she unknowingly gets herself into some situations she could have avoided. I also loved her overactive imagination and how her love for Gothic literature led to some hysteria later on. Finally, I thought the romance was cute but realistic.

Rating classics is always hard for me, but since I had a fun time and was engaged during the entirety of the story, I'll give it 5 stars ☺️

I've been seeing so many people share their #bookishexpectations lately, so it's made me think about some books I've had strong expectations for before starting!

Do you have any of the same books that you had high expectations for?

Channeling spring over here, since it's still been so cold where I live! I can't wait for the days to warm up again so I can go on my daily walks during my lunch break. The sun completely transforms my mood 🥰

Is there anything you are looking forward to this spring?
